Yes, those on the blacklist really were communists, and were trying to subvert the culture. And yes, there was something wrong with that.
Now, of course, you’re blacklisted in Hollywood for opposing socialism.

Apparently there’s nothing new about blacklists for opposing communism; I read an article a while back about Hollywood blacklists of anti-communists in the 30s or 40s.
As usual, the commies only complained when their tactics were applied to them.
