If Romney Were President

Or if Bush still was:

Democrats in Congress would be calling for hearings and investigations for each transgression: the bombing, troop levels, and drone policy. Chuck Schumer would hold daily press briefings scolding the wreckless president from behind the glasses perched precariously down his nose. Someone would accurately quote Sheila Jackson-Lee condeming the terrible bombing of the “orphanage in Pakistan”.

But Mitt Romney isn’t president, Barack Obama is, so no one cares.

They told me that if I voted for Romney, the president would be bombing innocent people in hospitals. And they were right!

It’s not about principles, it’s about tribalism.

  1. “It’s not about principles, it’s about tribalism.”

That is true and considering we didn’t lose anything based on military criteria but rather politically at home, the outcome is all the more disgusting.

People who viewed that outcome fatalistically, out of political ideology, created policies to fulfill their own prophecies. Then blamed Bush.

  2. Yes, tribalism which makes Trump the correct response. Once we’ve normalized America which starts with immigration and ‘English Only’ we can afford idealogical purity…

Trump is a scary clown… exactly what Putin needs to face rather than old reliables.

  3. so no one cares

It’s a “compared to what” situation. The alternative to an Obama/Clinton foreign policy isn’t a Lincoln Chaffee foreign policy, or a Rand Paul foreign policy, it’s a Bush/Rubio foreign policy, and orders-of-magnitude more civilians being killed. So anti-war Democrats (myself included) grumble quietly.
