  1. I must be old. My first impression of Star Wars was formed when I watched the original trailer in the early spring of 1977 prior to viewing the Ralph Bakshi film “Wizards”. Although Wizards was a fun movie, poor Ralph was done a disservice by his distributor!

Star Wars was about pacing, action & special effects. SF elements are there, but more as a prop than essential to the storyline. This was no Solaris. Episode 4 was the story of “The Quest” a solid human mythological theme as old as written history and documented by the late great Joseph Campbell.

  2. I just want good stories. The prequels sucked and so did the upgrades to the original trilogy. Those two things damaged my childhood love of Star Wars but I don’t want those original feelings recreated and they can’t be. I want the new movies to stand on their own and be enjoyable.

Lot of good comments over there about the poor sex analogy.

  3. Watched Elysium last night on Netflix. It was horrible. All about the message. A stupid story, extremely ham-fisted writing, lame hero, ridiculous villains, crap acting. Glad I took recommendations from folks here and elsewhere to avoid it in theater.

Say what you like about the original Star Wars, it will always have a special place in my heart. I’m looking forward to the new film with very low expectations. Just hope it doesn’t suck.
