The Democrats And Gun Control

This is what it looks like when the tide is turning:

Everyone sees that Obama and his minions not only cannot protect us, but that they will actively seek to stop us from doing it ourselves.

Everyone sees that Obama is simply trying to not let this crisis go to waste by stripping real Americans of their ability to protect themselves from Islamist murderers – and from his fascist dreams.

Everyone sees that we are on our own.

Bill Clinton definitely gets it; for all his myriad faults, he knows Americans and he knows “Give me your guns even though I’m utterly incompetent” won’t sell outside of Manhattan. It is even dawning on Hillary, a woman so dumb that she failed the District of Columbia bar exam. And it’s dawning on the down-ticket Dems who had been dreaming of retaking the Senate in 2016, but now get to run in red states on the platform of “Let’s bring in more Muslim immigrants and take your guns!”

But they can’t help themselves. They’re imploding.

[Late-morning update]

The Democrats have become unhinged and ugly on gun control.

To be fair to them, that’s not really anything new.

  1. “Let’s bring in more Muslim immigrants and take your guns!”

Also: “Let’s limit free speech, fund Planned Parenthood, raise taxes, abandon Israel, let Iran develop nukes, and save Obamacare!”

As a former (Scoop Jackson) Democrat, who changed parties in 2008 after the savage misogynist attacks on Sarah Palin, I must confess that I am utterly baffled by the Dems doubling down on what I suspect will be a disastrous set of platform planks. It’s like seeing an iceberg field dead ahead and, instead of changing course, proclaiming that we’re on the ‘right course’ and increasing speed.

I personally have no problems with more Muslim immigrants, because I suspect the terrorists can get in just fine, legally or illegally. On the other hand, I bought my wife a 5-year NRA membership over the weekend, just because.

    1. Agree completely with last paragraph. What Trump is suggesting may be foolhardy, but is only equally foolhardy as pretending there isn’t a problem. I have no beef with Islam, but when did we develop the need for bringing in Syrian immigrants? There’s other people around the world that would die trying to enter the country, and we want to bring in those from a country that severed diplomatic relations with the US.

Well ok, the President has a pen and phone. But Americans have the 2nd Amendment. The President wants to use his legal powers. We will use ours.

    2. I don’t think the tide has turned because the 2nd amendment can be limited and Democrats will push gun controls up to and past them wherever they can. That is why its important they don’t win back control of congress.

But gun control is only popular in Democrat areas and even then there are cracks. I can’t believe they are making this an election issue. Many seem to beleave that politicians are bribed by the NRA and that the voters really want gun control, like Democrat areas do. That won’t work out well for Hilary.

Same could be said for Trump’s rhetoric.

Have any of you chronically gifted people seen an election cycle as crazy as this one?

      1. The post-WWII political and economic system is collapsing all around us, and the existing power structure has nothing to offer but more of the same. Clinton and her fellow conservatives are trying to maintain that failed system, while Trump and his fellow radicals want to build something new, suitable for the 21st century.

The end of an era always gets crazy.

      2. Have any of you…people seen an election cycle as crazy as this one?

Actually, 1991-92 was pretty crazy. Bush I started out in early 1991 as a sitting president with 90% approval ratings (in the wake of Gulf War I), but we saw the rise of both Bill Clinton and Ross Perot (as a true independent), largely over economic issues. At one point, Perot led both Clinton and Bush in the polls, and he ended up getting 19% of the popular vote in the general election, mostly likely costing Bush re-election.

Which is why GOPers with long memories are so wary about a possible Trump independent run.

        1. Shortening it to you people doesn’t make it sound any better =p and I am sure there are plenty of people younger than myself that could answer that question too 🙂

A third party run by Trump would be pretty bad, this is probably why Cruz isn’t going out of his way to alienate Trump supporters like the media wants. Even though Perot was in the race, was the atmosphere anything like it is today?

I was in highschool at so politics wasn’t something I followed at the time.

          1. Alienating Trump supporters is a good way for the GOP nominee to lose even if Trump doesn’t go 3rd party. As much as many of us dislike Trump’s style, he is grasping important points.

  2. You guys who have no problems with more Muslims do realize that ” kill the infidel” is what the Koran tells them to do?
Unfortunately we let them in to Australia as well and have our “sudden jihad syndrome” events and almost daily shootings involving that community in western Sydney.
Unfortunately also, we don’t have a Second Amendment (Australia was once known as a nation of sheep – when wool was prime product and it is still correct) and decent guns are hard to get and keep although there are more guns in Australian hands now than before the semi auto buy back and ban.
We also don’t have land borders so border control is somewhat easier.
