The Democrat Primary

…is an arms race in crazy.

Yup. The only one who has a chance of beating Trump is Biden, and he probably can’t get the nomination.

[Update late morning]

With twenty-one entrants, here’s the state of the 2020 Democrat primary.

  1. I agree. A party that is generating the most excitement with a brainless 20-something in 2019 is unlikely to nominate a guy in 2020 who’s pushing 80.

I still think the nomination is Kamala’s to lose.

  2. I saw a headline about Democrats running for president supporting voting rights for the “Boston bombers.” Plural. With an “s” at the end.

I guess that works out right for Democrats in Cook County?

  3. I think we should have a conversation about race in America. For sixty years liberals have told white folks that we need to have one, but apparently they always have a scheduling conflict because when you turn around again, they’re still telling white folks that we need to have the conversation. Maybe one day they will, but I’m pretty sure they’re not going to invite any conservatives, whether white, black, Asian, or Hispanic, because I think the conversation is supposed to go, “Isn’t it great how we’ve all come together, as different races, sexes, and ethnicities, to agree that conservatives are to blame for everything?”

  4. You mean like the “conversation” we had where we all decided to put the Lugbits in charge of pronouns? Or the “conversation” where we all decided that all of the past is so racist that it needs to be excised and forgotten? Or the “conversations” that decided that various useful objects, like plastic bags, incandescent lightbulbs, DDT, Freon, or gas cans that work, should be made impossible to obtain?

No more “conversations” until the Progressive Left shuts up and listens.

  5. Let’s overturn Reynolds vs. Sims too. Would get rid of large cities ruining otherwise good states.

  6. an arms race in crazy

Actually, I’d say that the non-crazy candidates have a strong chance here. Even if the crazy part of the Democrat party is a majority of Democrat voters (which they probably aren’t BTW), they can still be split between multiple opponents. It’s the democracy version of divide-and-conquer. That assumes, of course, that Biden’s angle in turn doesn’t get diluted by other candidates of the same theme.

Plus, there’s the DNC angle. The DNC is notorious for being able to throw nominations to their desired candidates. We’ll see who they end up backing.

Finally, there’s the matter of beating Trump. I don’t see the Biden power here. He’s got #metoo issues and doesn’t seem that remarkable a campaigner.

    1. Tough to say on the crazy % but it has to be 40% or more. Bernie would have won if the primary wasn’t rigged and Democrats have put commies in office all over the country.

I think Democrats would cleave if the media actually covered all the crazies, what they say and what they want to do. Instead they hide the truth and focus on moving everyone incrementally toward crazy, where crazy is Marxism.

  7. I just hope they nominate someone that can lie like trump .. 9000 times he has been fact checked as lying .. so that is what the democrats need … someone who can stand toe to toe with trump and say,

    I won’t play golf
I will be to busy for vacations
I will make mexico pay for the wall

just spin one lie after another non stop … If the democrats do not field someone who can lie as good (or bad depending) as the trump lie machine.

        1. Trump isn’t any more loose with the truth than any other politician but if this means we will now be micro-checking every stat, reference, and turn of phrase, it will be a good thing. Too bad the effort will stop after Trump leaves office.

The dead memetics of over 9,000 don’t hold up with close scrutiny either. Just like with every single article written about Trump, researching the claims made by journolists shows a reality far different than the one they portrayed.

  8. Reciprocal carry across state lines is an interesting one. It would seem that the default for that would be Missouri’s no concealed permit required. Which should, in fact, be the default anyway.

I also like the idea of lifting the legal restrictions on automatic weapons (they are, in fact, legal, but with so many caveats that they might as well not be).

    1. Automatic weapons?

What would a person ever need one for?

Suppressors (silencers) on the other hand, there is a real need for those.

      1. NEED or need or is it a need in the sense that people need to have the freedom of speech to complain about the foil lids on yogurt cups ripping down the middle instead of cleanly separating from the edges?

  9. Twenty one entrants? Let’s get one more and then, instead of a first series of debates, they can play football to eliminate half the candidates.
