The “Anti-Fascist” Fascists

Apparently it’s OK to both physically and verbally attack a gay Asian man for covering “Antifa” riots, both by “Antifa” and the media. In fact, the Portland mayor approves.

Commentary from The Spectator:

…the real enablers here are the politicians and journalists who’ve championed Antifa, such as the CNN presenter Chris Cuomo, as well as the Portland authorities who have consistently turned a blind eye to the criminal behavior of the group. Indeed, Andy himself was assaulted by an Antifa activist at his gym last month and the Portland Police took no action. And he was punched in the stomach while covering an Antifa May Day protest in Portland while a police officer stood by and did nothing.

Let’s hope this sickening attack finally shames the Portland authorities into taking action against the group. Beating up a journalist because he or she criticises your political ideology is what the Nazi party did in Germany in the 1930s.

Don’t count on it. More from Reason, and American Conservative.

“Trump supporters should thank Antifa, et al., as they are terrific motivators for Trump’s voters, and, in fact, recruiters for the Trump coalition. It’s already reached the point where Trump, once considered a crazy man, now looks like the reasonable adult in the room.”

Michelle Malkin has set up a fund for Andy.

[Monday-morning update]

By any means necessary — it won’t stop with Andy Ngo.

The Western elite had been dominant for so long that their virtue, no less than their wealth, was undoubted. It was as if Dorian Gray said of his portrait: that can’t be me; I must have been infected by conservatives. The idea that the Thing Western society assured itself did not exist had come for them, at last, was totally unexpected as was the realization that all their tokens of virtue were not keeping It at bay.

Perhaps the magnitude of Hillary’s 2016 loss is only now becoming apparent. Clinton didn’t just lose the White House, she also lost the Democratic center to the radical ornaments. The diminution of Brooks, Stevens, Kristof, and even Biden are the consequence of that defeat. The radicals who once served the useful purpose of putting fear into the other side are taking center stage. It’s not surprising that the French Terror began with the purge of the moderates and the urgency of virtue. As Robespierre put it, virtuous men have no choice but to employ any means necessary:

If the basis of popular government in peacetime is virtue, the basis of popular government during a revolution is both virtue and terror; virtue, without which terror is baneful; terror, without which virtue is powerless. Terror is nothing more than speedy, severe and inflexible justice; it is thus an emanation of virtue; it is less a principle in itself, than a consequence of the general principle of democracy, applied to the most pressing needs of the patrie.

The Thing is older than one would think. And more voracious. The intellectual Old Bolsheviks thought their illustrious records would protect them from the ruffian Stalin. Bukharin, who was eventually executed by Stalin, once said: “Koba, you used to be grateful for the support of your Bolshevik comrades.” “Gratitude is a dog’s disease,” Stalin shot back.

It will get worse before it gets better, unfortunately.

But Ted Cruz has called for federal action against the mayor of Portland: “To federal law enforcement: investigate & bring legal action against a Mayor who has, for political reasons, ordered his police officers to let citizens be attacked by domestic terrorists.”

Yes. This is insurrection.

If you don’t stand up for Andy Ngo, you could be next:

What you just saw was a pack of privileged white dudes in masks beating up a smaller guy who’s a minority (Ngo is Vietnamese-American) and a member of the LGBTQ community (he’s gay). These cowards punched him and threw things at him in the middle of the street, in broad daylight, because they knew the cops wouldn’t stop them. It might as well be Alabama in the ’50s. The only difference between Antifa and the Klan is fashion.

First the fascists came for the gay Asians, and I said nothing, because I was not gay, or Asian.

Good, Harmeet is on the case:

Here’s the story at the “right wing” Quillette.

[Update a few minutes later]

Leftist “journalists” respond to the attack with the flippancy you’d expect.

Yes, it’s insane that we’re having a debate over whether it’s acceptable to violently attack a journalist.

  1. For the past three years Democrats have used organized and unorganized violence to attack people in meatspace while also using internet companies to censor, financial companies to unperson, and regulations to punish people they don’t like. All channels are being used to attack people: video games, pulp fiction, entertainment media, crocheting groups, academics, and even libraries.

When Democrats created the moral obligation to attack people it became a society wide war against their fellow Americans.

    1. All channels are being used to attack people

It’s even ok for superheroine’s to assault men, take their clothes, and steal their motorcycle. We are supposed to see that and think “powerful woman role model”.

          1. And when the Terminator did it earlier; he was actually a robot designed to kill humans and reprogrammed to protect a few of them. We were supposed to see him, in that moment, as an evil to avoid.

  2. I don’t know if many people realize it, but Antifa is an international organization. I read the blog Gates of Vienna, which focuses on the European political scene, and Antifa has been active there for years.

They usually show up at rallies protesting immigration policies and beat up the protesters while the police stand idly by. This tells me that, far from being anarchists, they are enforcing the open-borders policies of the authorities with the tacit approval of the authorities. They are off-the-books “muscle” for the New World Order globalists. They are only ever used against people who insist on national sovereignty, who they label “fascists”.

    1. Antifa had its roots in the USSR during WWII. They are communists that decided to hate fascism when Hitler invaded Russia. Previously, they were just socialist comrades.

        1. The Austrian Nazis were also anti-Fascists. As part of the settlements after WW-I, Italy had been given oversight powers in Austria, so naturally Austria was run by a Fascist government. As the Nazis grew in popularity, home grown Nazi groups formed in Austria and used protests and violence to attack their existing Italian puppet government so they could boot out the Fascists.

But the Austrian Nazi leaders were organically grown in Austria, and after the Fascists were out they were quickly crushed by the German Nazis. I guess the German Nazis had plenty of useful idiots and didn’t need any more, especially ones who thought they’d be put in charge of Austria because they were tough and rebellious and stuff.

    2. Most of these leftist militant activist groups that make up the Democrat base are international.

  3. Andy Ngo’s lawyer, Harmeet Dhillon, tweeted:

Goodnight everyone except Antifa criminals who I plan to sue into oblivion and then sow salt into their yoga studios and avocado toast stands until nothing grows there, not even the glimmer of a violent criminal conspiracy aided by the effete impotence of a cowed city government.

Daily Journal voted her one of the top 100 women lawyers of 2019, and her firm Dhillon Law Group, takes on the likes of Google.

      1. Why? Leftism is based on violence, and mass murder is the norm once they gain power. They just love murdering people.

The very first time the left gained power over a nation, several centuries ago, they pulled out the guillotine and started hacking each others’ heads off. And they’ve killed over a hundred million more since then.

The bizarre part is that the Portland police are defending the kind of people who actively talk online about… murdering cops.

      2. Democrats (perhaps the world’s largest organized crime ring) believe in ever bigger and more powerful government. Government is force.

  4. I’d like to see these people brought to justice, but I’m losing hope that will happen. I feel the same about those that abused their authority to spy on innocent Americans. They haven’t been brought to justice either. I’m seeing a lack of willingness by the government to perform the basic duties, and a surplus of willingness to use its authority against the citizenry. Now we have Democrats actively running to provide free federal services to non-citizens of this country. Beto even went into Mexico to campaign for votes.

It shouldn’t be only Trump noting these things, and others then dismissing them because Trump noticed them and they are happy it irritates him.

While I lose hope, I’m not worried. If Antifa tried that stuff in Texas, they wouldn’t last long.

  5. Some think google and/or social media is going to influence the 2020 election. Well, they can’t control Antifa and are going to seen as enabling it.
So, Trump going to win in a landside. Trump going to win California and Oregon, due to Antifa, and the Dem incompetence in general- including all clowns running for President.

  6. Repressive tolerance, a lefty philosophy, means you are allowed to hit people in the head with a steel bar if you need to. To be tolerant, you need to be intolerant.

  7. What do you suppose will happen when Antifa finally kills someone in front of cameras? My guess is nothing.

What do you suppose will happen in the unlikely event someone defending themselves kills an Antifa attacker in front of cameras? My guess is they’ll get life in prison without parole, and the rest of us will wind up living in a police state.

    I don’t have a lot of hope.
