  1. In 1999 five Democrats voted on one of the impeachment charges against Clinton, so they’re not even achieving those levels of cross-party support for making their kangaroo court less opaque.

I think they’re terrified of Republicans cross-examining witnesses because that’s where the real story is, along with where all our Ukrainian aid money was actually going, at least according to some Ukrainians.

  2. This is just a race to discredit AG Barr and Dunham’s investigation. The tactics make sense when you consider the prospect of losing a few seats is preferable to prison.

  3. Yes, it’s literally part of their DNA going back generations. Remember this is the birthplace of the Klu Klux Klan.

    agreed.

    My question is:

The level of banana republic one sidedness of the “rules” is to huge and egregious that it’s hard for me to believe that the Dems do not know how transparent they are.

Do they really think a majority of the voters will like this?

Do they really believe it will help them? Other than perhaps, distract attention form the Barr/Durham steamroller

    1. If I thought they’d learned anything from the Reid Maneuver (killing off the filibuster for judges, aka the nuclear option), I’d be saying “Just wait until January 21st, 2025 (or 2029 or 33 if you want extra fun), when we impeach the incoming Democrat President.”

      1. I would think that the most partisan Democratic Party members believe that the “Rubicon was already crossed” by the Republicans in the Clinton impeachment and they are only “responding in kind”.

This line of thought seems to miss that the “impeach each and every [R]epublican President” impulse has metastasized into a cancerous vendetta with the Orange Man Bad!™ movement. Once a vendetta starts the other side will escalate… *Sigh*

        1. The ones in charge know the Rubicon was crossed when Obama, Hillary, and the DNC partnered with the agencies of the federal government and the media to spy on Trump, frame him, and remove him from office in a coup.

It’s all going to come out, even if they vote to impeach. It is about doing as much damage as possible to prevent Trump from doing his job, tarnish his legacy, influencing the next election, and destroying faith in our system to deligitimize it in the eyes of the populace so it can be replaced in the grand progressive Marxist revolution.

    2. They’ve already doomed their investigation without moving the polling on impeachment by a single point in either party.

A good prosecutor never goes overboard with stunts that make the jury sympathetic to the defendant, and the only real assets they bring into the courtroom are trust and fairness and a concern for the victim.

The Democrats threw all of that away from the get go. They’ve got no victim and have destroyed every shred of trust and any illusion of fairness. They now cannot win their case, no matter how much they strut and preen for the cameras.

  5. “They’ve got no victim and have destroyed every shred of trust and any illusion of fairness. They now cannot win their case, no matter how much they strut and preen for the cameras.”

Have they lost the trust of the Deep left voters? I suspect not but I don’t know it for a fact.

The only rational explanation that I can come up with for running such a transparently one sided, unfair, “investigation” that shreds every notion of due process is that they are trying to distract from what Barr and Durham will reveal. It’s a Hail Mary pass, if that’s the explanation.

All the other explanations I can think of require the Lefties to be irrational. Perhaps I lack imagination.
