How many deaths are you willing to sustain to halt the economic downturn to what level?
If anything good comes out of all this, I certainly hope that the idea that we need to wreck the economy based solely on some unverifiable climate models will finally be put to rest.
@Gregg – it really boils down to whether the deaths are very different than any other epidemic that we have encountered or are much in line with other flu’s (not to mention man made issues like opioids).

In my opinIon, this whole episode boils down to:
How many deaths are you willing to sustain to halt the economic downturn to what level?–
10,000 per month – if we can do it.
If can’t do it, 20,000 month, which about the average over last 2 months.
Current total US of yesterday: 34,617 with count of so far today:
35,955.
Or average of 1600 per day, and average yesterday: 2,174 which is about 5% of daily birth rate in US in average day.. And as an emergency measure, strongly discourage abortions, nationally.

We have yet, to determine, if get immunity if get Chinese Virus, if you can’t or only some do, it would like common cold, but perhaps more deadly.
In terms getting anything good from this, maybe we will cure the common cold.

I think the safest thing to do is nuke the Chinese Communist Party from orbit.
One could wonder whether they accidentally started a biological war
or intended to do it. I think the did it, accidentally.
But we can’t have countries accidentally starting a biological wars, and it would better if a country accidentally started a biological war and then let everyone know that they did this. But CCP is not capable of doing this.
So, what accidentally or deliberately starting a biological war does, is kill a lot people, and cost the world a lot of time and money- it seems quite possible in future that CCP would want to do this, particularly, if the world allows them to do this.
BUT maybe the world will not allow CCP, to to get away with it- and we don’t need to nuke the CCP from orbit.
On the negative side, the US seems to be allowing our FBI to attempt to remove a duly elected President- or the FBI which committed crimes are not going to be in jail.
BUT then again, the world allowing CCP to get away with starting biological wars is not dependent upon what governments can manage to do.
Or the world could sue CCP out of existence, or there no reason that CCP should have legal immunity to indict death and economic damage on the rest of world from accidently or deliberating starting a biological war. Rather then sue, it’s could be de-coupling, boycotting all Chinese criminal business {everything China “trades”}.
And regards to US and FBI, citizens are going to merely not trust the FBI. And a purpose of putting FBI members in jail, is to restore trust in the FBI {that it follow laws}. So, FBI to save the FBI, should follow US law, and it’s not. And the FBI will suffer the consequences- or there was no consequence of FBI not needing to follow the law, there no reason to “unneccessary” putting any FBI members in jail. And likewise, if CCP accidently or deliberately starts more biological attacks upon the world, and has no consequences, in the future, the CCP will accidentally cause more plagues upon the world.
We ask nicely that they don’t do this, but that not going to work out well. Or much better to nuke them from orbit- which maybe the people of the world will cause governments to do, eventually
But to matters at hand. We did lockdown to prevent overwhelming our healthcare system. And we already did that. Time to end to Lockdown. The lockdown is not really about preventing more death in general population, rather it’s about preventing surge illness and death.
Only way to lower death is stop accidentally starting a plague and preventing anyone knowing about it soon enough.
One can have natural or random plagues, we have done and are doing things to reduce that from occurring in the world. But China has started at two pandemics, it seems CCP will start more in the future.
@gbaikie – the monthly ‘tab’ only works if you ignore the law of diminishing returns. Right now, the virus appears to kill those who have certain health issues. It sucks that it kills them, but eventually there are only so many of those individuals, then there are not nearly so many around to affect. No way it keeps up this pace for a year (or even a few months). We are already seeing a drastic drop in the rate.
