Bob Zimmerman

will not wear a mask.

We’ve been wearing one, not because we really think it keeps us or others safer, but simply out of current social etiquette. And we only do it inside, not when simply outside.

[Update a while later]

People are silently withdrawing their consent from the State.

Some not-so-silently, too.

[Update Saturday morning]

Mask shaming is just the latest form of virtue signaling.

  1. I will not participate in the latest virtue signaling affectation of wearing a mask in public.

    1. Humans are funny. When governments banned masks, only rebels wore them. Now the see has sawed.

    2. Yea but you still virtual signal by wearing pants?
Other question is why you letting the surveillance state camera clearly see your face?

        1. 1. “Lab Tests” say 95% accurate, the Bradly Fighting vehicle passed high percentage of it tests too.
          2. we going to trust China word on how accurate this is?
          3. Just wearing a mask, rookie mistake, got to also wear a Hat and glasses like this professional bonus points if their wearing a wig and using a scarf to cover their Adams Apple.

  2. I’ve been wearing a mask–strictly only inside stores–since Dallas County made it mandatory (although with no force behind it) and basically for the same reason Rand mentioned (well, with one exception: the neighborhood indy convenience store’s proprietor has a brand-new baby.) But I’m seeing more and more people at other convenience stores, grocery stores, and so on not wearing them (including a cop inside a c-store last week, btw).

    1. Babies are the least at risk group. Are you worried the baby will get you sick? Your germs are doing that baby a favor!

      1. The guy at the store is a nice guy, who I see regularly. If it makes him feel safer, I’ll do it. Are you rude to the people you interact with regularly?

        1. Nope, I’m more polite than most people deserve. And I don’t feel the need to pander/virtue signal to people fooled by a hoax.

  3. I don’t wear one. I don’t see the point.
Most of the “people of color” around these parts wear them below their nose, for starters. Beyond that, it’s basically to protect them from me, not to protect me from them.
The gripping hand is that I can’t find any around to buy anyway, so I ain’t got any to wear even if I did want to.
I have no problem with the “social distancing” thing, but it’s gotten too stupid to be allowed to live. Wal-Mart now has “one way” aisles. Yeah, right.
I’m a male. Real men don’t read the directions.
    So it goes.

  4. People are slowly losing their belief in the legitimacy of the state, because the state is increasingly proving to be both corrupt and incompetent.

It’s one thing to live with a corrupt state when doing so makes you wealthy even though the ‘elite’ are looting billions off the top. It’s quite another to live with a corrupt state when they’re grossly incompetent and making you poor.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens up here. Alberta doesn’t yet want to secede because they’re worried about trashing their economy. But if the economy is already trashed, what is there to lose?

  5. Nope, I won’t wear one and no, you can’t take my temperature. Yes, they’re my constitutional rights – Google HIPPA if you disagree. The virus is real, and its effects were hidden by the Chinese communist government. If I was a citizen of Italy or Spain I’d be telling the government to recognize it as the act of war it was. However, in the US – it is largely a hoax. A “just in time” attack to prevent Donald Trump’s reelection. Comey didn’t work, Russian collusion didn’t work, Ukraine impeachment hoax didn’t work – so this is the next thing they’re trying. The # of US deaths from COVID-19 is actually less than 2300! There have been many misidentifications and false identifications as a mechanism for perpetuating fear!

  6. I wear one in the store on the off chance it will lower the viral load if I’m exposed. I also have a little bottle of alcohol to spritz on things that I touch while out. I don’t do it because I’m worried but just to be extra safe.

I haven’t noticed many wearing masks but some do. Half of those are a bandana or some other super thin cloth.

Back in March, I was a little worried because of the unknown but now? Not worried because sick people would have been discovered weeks ago.

Judging by how many people I have seen out, there wasn’t much of a lockdown, which sucks for all the people who lost their jobs or had to stay home with their kids.

  7. Unless you have something like an N95, wearing a mask won’t do much to protect you. However, wearing a mask will provide a degree of protection to others should you cough or sneeze. That it’s exactly nothing.

  8. A mask covering holes in your face is very like briefs covering holes at your crotch. Be polite.

  9. My dentist requested that one. So as a “courtesy” I dug through the garage, found an N95 mask, vacuumed it off with a shop-vac and used it that once… So IMO it all depends on the situation.

    1. I don’t get it. Obviously they’re not doing the procedure while you’re wearing the mask. So I guess it’s for while you’re hanging out in the waiting room. Sounds like they need to do a better job of sticking with a schedule to minimize patients loitering in the waiting room. Just in time appointment.

  10. My wife is a nurse so we have masks. We keep a few in the car and wear them when the establishment asks us to. Considering people haven’t received training on how to wear them and handle them; I don’t think they are that useful, but I’ll accept the percentage that they do something. It will be interesting if the progressives can keep this up until November.

Since when has “ism” been spelled “d-i-s-t-a-n-c-i-n-g”?

  11. Ann scored some N100 (rounding error) masks at a paint store in February, and from our point of view, they are ideal. They protect us from the crud but have outlet valves to let them run cooler and thus don’t do squat for anyone else. I only put one on when entering a building, no point in it outdoors.

Fortunately, San Luis Obispo County is fairly laid back about all this, and a city park nearby is popular, while people carefully separate their groups from others. We haven’t tried to go to state parks recently, though. Masks, distancing, and hygiene should allow everything but salad bars to reopen. People with impaired immune systems should have been doing these things all along, but now it’s commonplace.

  12. Wearing a level 2 dust mask and safety glasses will interfere with sticking your fingers in your mouth and nose or rubbing your eyes while out and about. People claim they don’t have such nasty habits, but most are lying. Nitrile gloves, if removed properly when done, will protect you from contaminated surfaces better than just hand sanitizer or washing (though you should do that too).

I have goggles, safety glasses, dust masks, various respirators, and nitrile gloves for major home renovations I’m doing (sanding, mold cleanup, varnish, spray painting ceilings, etc.). Unfortunately, I ran out of N95s last fall and didn’t buy more in time. I guess I could wear my toxic vapor respirator to the store…

Probably won’t do any good, but I’m 69 with several comorbidities, and my wife is immune compromised. Can’t hurt.
