  1. As a fan of “Portlandia” I can see why they canceled the show – the immature, odd but creative people they were satirizing were no longer funny. Like a cute stray dog who suddenly goes rabid.

  2. In an unrelated story in the bigger socialist city to the north. The Seattle Chief of Police, the first black female big city chief of police in the nation, just had her salary cut by the city council after pointing out that defunding the Seattle Police Dept. would force layoffs disproportionately among minority members of the police dept. due to legal contracts in place with the police union and seniority within the dept. That issue, one of many the Chief says the city council refuses to discuss with her, was the apparent reason for the unscheduled vote to cut her salary to $100,000 less than the white female chief Katheryn O’Toole. Seems to me Chief Best has a good shot at a federal EEOC lawsuit for discrimination. One can only hope.

    1. Yesterday, I saw that that Chief Best has resigned. Good for her. Any Red City would be lucky to have her.

  3. This is one of those days I rejoice that I have the continental divide between Portland, Seattle, Sacramento and me. But then I remember I live in Minnesota.

  4. It would appear it is now Chicago’s turn for major retailers downtown to provide free donations to peaceful protesters.

More than COVID-19 this could spell the end of brick and mortar stores. Either that or storefronts end up looking more like prisons from the outside, with giant projection screens on the inside providing views of the outside. Indoor malls are largely there already. The magnificient mile in the windy gated city.
