I have the same feeling about the whole mask-and-social-distancing thing. It may have no effect on Covid-19 transmission, but it shows that you “respect the feelings of others” when you pretend it does, and bow down to the mask Nazis.
If a storekeeper asks me, politely, to wear a mask when I enter their place of business, I do so. If they don’t, I don’t. If they make an uncivil demand of me, I leave.
