Could we end up with a Republican Speaker of the House? If the Rs lose the Senate, that may be the only way to stop them. Of course, Pelosi may have trouble getting re-elected even if the Democrats have a voting majority.

At the very least, I would truly appreciate a bitter, bloody and dragged-out fight for Pelosi’s speakership.

You know what would make this 3rd 21st Century Decade even weirder? Pelosi loses and McCarthy gets the gavel by one vote or so. Then, in the next few months, Joe exits stage left, because that’s how the script’s written. Then President Harris nominates someone for Veep, but the Republican majority Senate refuses to confirm any of the several people she sends down. Why accept the nomination of someone by an illegitimate figure? Chaos insures! And McCarthy would be next in line.
