The Republican Party

has failed us.

Kristi Noem is the female Ronald Reagan, and she may be the second, if not the first woman president.

[Update a while later]

Yes, as pointed out in comments, the first elected woman president. And she may be the first, period, if Demented Joe manages to hang on for four years (or something happens to Harris before something happens to Joe).

  1. Even if Harris!’s handlers successfully 25th Joe* out the door, the “first elected woman president” prize will still be open. It would be entertaining to have Noem running against her in 2024. Then all Harris! would have to run on is her skin color, and Harris! could become the first woman president to lose re-election. (St.Hillary! has “the first woman to lose election” honor and it can never be taken from her.)

  2. Noem-Hawley or Hawley-Noem would be a good ticket. Or the second coming of Trump with either of them as VP.

That’s a pretty bold statement. I’ll reserve judgement until I’ve watched a few of her speeches in front of a live audience. Is she paying for that microphone?

      1. She has charisma and so far I like what she says and does a lot.

But Nikki Haley sounded good at the beginning.

So I would put myself down as “cautiously optimistic”

  4. It’s the ultimate paradox of democracy. That rights over time become devalued. And it’s actually privilege that everyone seeks. If voting became a privilege to be earned (fairly no racism) then people would value voting enough to gain the knowledge necessary to participate virtuously in an election. It’s the difference between scrimping and saving to buy a car be it a Jetta or being given a Cadillac. The market price of the car will have little to nothing to do with its perceived value to the owner. When voting has nothing needed other than an age and address, it’s only the quality of the pander that matters.

    1. There is a corollary here and it is very dark. Restore the draft. Let the young suffer and die at the hand of misgovernment (as in Vietnam although that was also a sexist war but we have since solved that issue) and they tend to become responsible voters.

  5. The best strategy the Republicans can adopt for 2022 is to also embrace mass mail in voting promoted by late coming professional canvassers and ballot harvesters. Then it’ll come down to which side can have it’s illegitimate votes counted last. Posting Viking hat men as Republican poll watchers. Forcing the media to proclaim only Democrat late votes are legitimate because racism.

  6. I saw an article this morning that said some RINO’s are leaving the party in disgust – too much Trump they say.

    Well…

This could initiate a dynamic I hadn’t thought of before:

Instead of MAGA voters leaving the GOP and starting a new party, the RINOs might leave the GOP and try to start a new party. And since trying to start a 3rd party and being successful at it is really difficult, that might just work out for the best.
