What kind of protection? Congresspeople aren’t immune from defamation lawsuits unless the defamation occurs from the floor.
After about six months a judge will dismiss the suit on some pretext. Meanwhile Mac Isaacs will have been dragged into multiple pre-trial hearings at distant locations (most of which will be cancelled at the last minute, once he spends all the money getting there), put under a gag order (while Schiff will disdain him as a MAGA lover out for publicity, in multiple media outlets), and face redoubled if not retripled harassment.
Those in power escape legal problems.
