  1. I’d say it’s a mix of both. But incompetence by far is the greater contributor.

  2. Old teacher joke: “What do you call someone who had a ‘D’ average in College?”
    Answer: A School Principal.

  3. I am so fucking done with moral shaming and guilt If there is something I would tell a child today (though it’d likely “merit” the Socrates treatment) it’s that all these supposedly wise supposed-adults moralizing and thundering about your faults, and “original sin”, and debts you owe for being born: They’re all lunatics of one flavor or another. They’re all apparatchiks of a dead and rotting civilization and a bankrupt philosophy.

Maybe you can trust your parents. Everyone else is trying to get inside your head so that they can program you against your interests, into a footsoldier for, or a sacrifice to, a stupid cause that can’t be sold on a rational basis.

    1. We cannot blame every poor person for crime. Every mohammedan for terrorism.

Then stop blaming peaceful, law-abiding gun owners for the very, very small percentage of firearms used in school shootings.

  4. Police Chief of a town of 15,000 isn’t usually either high pressure or high profile. The same for all the officers. I don’t know just how you’d go about being sure they would be able to handle something like this. Drills and exercises only go so far.

None of that goes very far to explain leaving a bunch of ten year olds locked in a room with an armed lunatic for an hour and calling him contained.

I’d start with physical fitness. Those fatasses weren’t going to run anywhere. They couldn’t make it across the street without needing a break.

For training, they have no shortage of options in Texas but any trainer will tell them they need to be able to run, fight, and shoot. Those guys would just fall over.
