  2. A huge part of the problem is the idea that you can just do society-wide mandates at the drop of a hat and somehow society will instantly adapt to that in a positive way. A rational authoritarian approach would have been to establish organic farming infrastructure and skillbase first, then in a few years (assuming generously that it turns out to be superior to the usual chemical fertilizer approach) transition over later when you’ve established that it works better and have a system in place that can support country-wide organic farming.

    Just doing it on the most vital part of your economy and means of survival, and expecting that you’ll get something other than a collapse is utterly foolish.
