  1. Our problems are a little different. We still have a few years to prepare for, and possibly prevent, when the Democrats destroy the energy industry. I know Musk is big on solar but I am not sure he appreciates the costs associated with applying that technology for a homeowner replacing the grid, the other economic damage done through artificially creating shortages, or how global instability influences manufacturing.

It is hard to say if Europe will bounce back or how long it will take. The Netherlands and other countries are continuing down their path no matter the damage and so are we, just a little slower. We have the ability to save Europe yet again but we can only do that by turning away from eco-genocide ourselves first.

For Americans, what does our food situation look like? We have a big country and so ranchers in Texas having issues doesn’t mean they are all over the country. Our farmers are still farming despite increased costs. Prices are higher in the grocery stores but there is still food. What about next year? Buy an extra freezer and hope you don’t need to spend $50k to keep it running?

  2. Can’t hurt to pick up a big bag of pintos and rice at Costco.

Housekeeping Tip: Have you ever heard of ‘cupboard moths’? Small moths that get into things like bags of beans (they may even come into your house as a ‘guest’ courtesy of your grocery store — mine did). Soon you have a cupboard full of moths and maggots…

I have found those 40oz plastic containers that salted nuts come in make a great vermin proof container. As soon as I empty the grocery bags I seal them up immediately so that if they later show ‘worm signs’ I can ditch them without losing …everything in the cupboard. Tupperware also works, but these are a lot cheaper. I have a rice cooker and over a month’s worth of assorted brown rice and various peas/beans.

    1. Put your rice and beans (and wheat, too) in a freezer for a few days.

And having food is good – having a way to cook it independent of anything built into the wall is better.

      Got water?

      1. “Had that happen with dog bones. It was a nightmare cleaning it all up.”

Well maybe if you’d buried the dog (RIP) proper it wouldn’t have happened…

  3. My mother’s side of the family left Britain for America in the early 1630’s.

My father’s side of the family left eastern Europe, black sea area, in the 1870’s.

They had reason to believe that their lives would be better if they took a gamble on reaching the Americas.

Once they got here, they knew that they were right.

I don’t think any of them would care about what’s now happening in/to Europe: folks who think too much of themselves but can’t take proper care of themselves.

    It’s not a good look.

    1. I was reading a little bit about this other country trying this stuff. Pretty big country filled with intelligent people and a high standard of living. I can’t remember the name but I think it was located somewhere south of Canada.

  4. Don’t know about Europe in general but maybe hope for Great Britain:

“Liz Truss has vowed to get shale gas flowing out of Britain by next spring after lifting the ban on fracking. Under plans to make Britain energy independent again by 2040, the Prime Minister pledged to strengthen supplies with more domestic oil and gas extraction alongside the development of nuclear and renewable power schemes.

She said this would see the moratorium on fracking – in place since 2019 – scrapped with immediate effect, paving the way for developers to begin extraction in as little as six months in areas “where there is local support”.”
