    1. It isn’t just LA and CA. Despite seeing the outcome of their policies, Democrats across the country are adopting them. Illinois just enacted no bail for murderers and rapists along with all the other criminal enabling things Democrats have been pushing.

I think Democrats in general are motivated by compassion but reality has been beating them, and innocent civilians, with a baseball bat for the last decade and they only double down. Stay and fight or flee to a free state?

  1. Despite massive expenditures, the city’s streets teem with more than 60,000 homeless residents, including 2,000 along upmarket Venice Beach. In their desperation, the city has proposed legislation that would force hotel owners to surrender spare rooms to the homeless – just the sort of thing that visiting tourists will surely appreciate.

    Ugh. “Despite massive expenditures…”. Despite??
“In their desperation…” As in… desperate?? Where in the frap does anyone see that?? The only people who are desperate are the ones who need a U-Haul and can’t get one.

And “just the sort of thing that visiting tourists will appreciate”? How about the idea that maybe that should read “just the sort of thing that will ensure more homeless”?
    But they’re desperate.

I keep thinking about Minneapolis. As documented widely (including Lileks) they’re building massive amounts of apartment housing in and around downtown. The disconnect is so glaring.
“We’ve got a homeless problem. That is, I hear we have a homeless problem. What’s the solution?”
    “Obviously build more housing.”
“Of course, thanks, we’re done. I’m headed home for the day. To Anoka.”
