  1. On one hand, most Americans do not care about the history of their own cities, much less other countries.

    On the other hand, among the minority who read for pleasure, history, biography and historical fiction are perennially popular.

    I am not sure what to make of this.

  2. Our woefully inadequate elites (from which the “leadership” we are saddled with is drawn) are a both the causes and the products of that educational system.

  3. I thought by “history taught backwards” it’d be 1) find the narrative you want to spin, and 2) shoehorn history to fit that narrative. That just makes sense, right?
