The chance of dying on Mars is little different than the chance of dying here on Earth, but without the expediters.
Their ideology is a secular version of Calvinism: absolute depravity without irresistible grace. If humanity is absolutely depraved, we need to be confined to Earth and ultimately eliminated.
I don’t think you can say they hate humanity just because they want to forcibly prevent the cultivation of rice, stop animal husbandry, and lower the amount of humans that exist.
