The Climate Witch Trials

A cautionary history.

Climate change, the idea that humankind is having a negative impact on the planet, and what’s more that there will be an extinction-level event if we do not radically change our behaviour, has become one of the most feverishly guarded orthodoxies of our age. You query it at your peril. It is one of the few beliefs for which an entire new grammar of censorship has been created to protect it from interrogation.

Yes.

  1. Still trying to figure out if Extinction Rebellion is pro-annihilation or anti-congruous.

    1. Nihilist Gnosticism*? (*As in a ‘revealed truth’ only discovered by an ‘elite few’)

      …Bugnutz insane also works.

  2. If “Climate Change” is bad, then it is up to those who oppose it to define for us exactly what climate they consider good, and why it is good. And when did we last have such a climate?

  3. It is not so much a matter of defining what is a good climate in Nature but an obedient one among people.

  4. A lot of smart people fall into this cult because intelligence doesn’t prevent the human condition, if anything, intelligence blinds you to the effects of the human condition through hubris, overconfidence, bigotry, and delusions of superiority. Many of these highly intelligent people are not “smart” enough to comprehend they follow a religion.

Dealing with weather has always been a challenge for humans. Nature religions were some of the first. It isn’t surprising that people who think they are smarter more evolved and enlightened than other human beings are simultaneously primitive in their beliefs and actions.

The only way to avoid this trap is humility.

  5. I’m still trying to figure out what is meant to be different about the climate and how this is an emergency.
