  1. In recognition to its similarity to Mao’s Great Leap Forward, I refer to the Green New Deal as the Green Leap Forward. Both were forced on people by economic and scientific illiterates. The Great Leap Forward resulted in an estimated 40-60 million deaths from famine and countless more executions of people insufficiently enthusiastic about the new government. I can only hope things won’t go so far here, but hearing the Leftists, I don’t have much confidence.

    1. Oooh! Green Leap Forward! When do I get my government issued “fossil” fuel dunce cap in the mail?

Like the Left, I’m always up for freebies!

      1. IIRC, the dunce caps were part of Mao’s murderous Cultural Revolution, which I’ve read resulted in about a million deaths. We’re having our own version of the Cultural Revolution going on right now, especially at colleges around the country.

Old Joe Stalin reportedly said that “A single death is a tragedy. A million deaths is a statistic.” Joe knew a lot about that kind of statistics. Mao knew even more. If you go to China and visit Tiananmen Square (I dud it in 2011 but don’t recommend it today), you’ll see Mao’s portrait right over the entrance to the Forbidden City. No one has dared to cancel him.

        1. Last numbers I heard was: Cultural Revolution about 5 million dead.

Mao’s reign up to the Cultural Revolution, including Great leap forward and various Five Year Plans: 20 to as many as 100 million with the consensus around 40 million.

          Xi; “Hold my beer.”

    2. Considering they are trying to ban agriculture in the USA and around the globe, things could get a lot worse. The only way we won’t see hundreds of millions of deaths is if the Progressive Marxists lose power in their respective countries and global regulatory bodies.

I think that’s likely. People don’t like starving to death. It’s very unpopular. For example, consider what happened in Sri Lanka. Over a three year period, 2019-2022, they had similar mismanagement. I won’t say they’re out of trouble, but they got rid of the leadership problem.

        1. Answer me this.

Energy Secretary Granholm got the cops called on her when she couldn’t get enough ports for their caravan of electric cars and end up blocking a charging spot with a DOE gasoline-powered car?

A family of 4 was not amused. It was said that in addition to letting this family ahead of them for the charging spot, that unspecified amends were made. When the police arrived.

What did the Energy Secretary offer this unhappy family to smooth things out? Free light bulbs? Rebates on a heat pump?

So then, what was the point Secretary Granholm was trying to make? That if the Inflation Reduction Act gets into swing spending money, the Secretary of Energy won’t have to “pull rank” to take a charging spot from some peon?

Doesn’t Elon Musk already have the charging spot problem solved for Tesla owners? That a Tesla comes with the Internet connectivity to show which of its “Supercharger” stations have available charging ports? That the in-car Web app will give directions to the nearest open port?

So is Musk on Granholm’s Black List for being non-UAW? For Musk taking over The Social Media Service Formerly Known as Twitter and shaking off government censorship?

Sounds like the Secretary wasn’t trying to make any sort of point, but rather hide bad behavior. As long as we can continue to bring that bad behavior to light, we can restrain the worst actions, like said killing of hundreds of millions of people.

          2. Why didn’t that caravan just pack a charging station with them? Surely they could have found an unused outside electrical outlet to plug it into at any Walmart along the way? Or why not just pack some fold-out solar cells just in case? After they charged up they could offer freebies to passers by!

And just in case you need it: \sarc

          3. I heard the caravan also hosted a PBS crew doing a puff-piece on BEVs. Apparently the 20-something reporter along for the ride was surprised to learn that they needed to carefully consider their route so as to not run out of charge and be stranded. Your tax dollars at work two-ways! Need I say more?
