  1. Someone published an article about Philip Hamburger’s work and ideas a number of years ago, and it really opened my eyes to an awful fact: I was violating my oath of office by working at FAA. It was a shock. It shouldn’t have been, and that’s why it was. Of all of the people being sworn in with me that first day at FAA, I was probably the only one who had read, studied, understood, and believed in the Constitution of the United States. Yet I really didn’t realize the fact that FAA, and all federal regulatory agencies, has legislative, judicial, and executive powers – exactly what the Constitution was designed to prevent. It made my retirement decision a lot easier, but I have spent the time since examining my cognitive dissonance on that matter, and others in my life.
