  1. I think they should never have had it in the first place. Watch the opening of the 1951 version of “The Day the Earth Stood Still” to see how the radio and early TV reporters were regarded as bullshitters.

    Whenever I see “scientists say…” or “experts say…” I’m reminded of the old advertising meme “doctors recommend…” If a specific researcher publishes a paper about something, I first consult my own expertise (if any), then check to see who the researcher is (with known or implied inherent biases) before looking at any claims. If there’s a paper, I sometimes read it, though nowadays with increasing skepticism.

    And I’m not without expertise of my own in many areas with which to consider merits.

  2. The CDC has totally corrupted its image with the public.
    Who will believe anything they say now?

    Perhaps instead of diseases they can dedicate what’s left of their credibility to addressing “The Food Pyramid”.
