“The Dam Broke Today”

Charlie Rangel may be on the verge of being forced out of his chairmanship.

Too bad. I was hoping that he would continue to bleed the Dems on the subject of their corruption all the way to November. Not to imply, of course, that there isn’t abundant other evidence of it.

[Update a few minutes later]

The Republicans shouldn’t give them any cover on this. They should all vote “present.” Make the Donkeys clean up their own road apples.

True, though cynical. It would remove the ability for the left to “rehabilitate” him through false vote comparissons.

Him stepping down doesn’t resolve the ethics problems. He still failed to follow laws his committee drafted and expected other Americans to follow. These are laws that didn’t exempt Congressman. He should be drummed completely out of office.

  3. Nah. The old adage “never interrupt an enemy while he’s making a mistake” only applies when the mistake doesn’t damage a common interest. We have a common interest in a more ethical and accountable legislature.

  4. Not to worry. Pete Stark will now be Chairman of Ways and Means. He will be very entertaining to be sure.
