  1. If we ever removed our self-imposed moral blinkers on human cloning, we wouldn’t have to worry about any of this stuff.

  2. How on Earth do you figure that? The “clones” would still need to be raised from birth, and no functional family to raise them. Inbreeding and the lose of Hybrid vigor come to mind. Then there’s the fact that the excuses for Abortion have given us a legal regime where “it’s” not human until it touches air, so we will have more worries, not less. “What is Human” will soon be a practical, not metaphysical one. How much can you change the physical form before it’s no longer Human and it can be sold as a cat girl sex slave? As cruel as that is, it is less cruel then what women do to their own children, and they seem unwilling to give up that power, which would seem to be the only way to stop the return of Slavery. Brave New World indeed!

  3. How much can you change the physical form before it’s no longer Human and it can be sold as a cat girl sex slave?

Why does changing the physical form of humanity lead to slavery of sex cat’s? Humanity has experience with slavery. We’ve developed a rather communal opinion about it. And written extensively about it. Our knowledge about inbreeding and “Hybrid vigor” is extensive. And growing.

You need less Huxley and more Heinlein.

  4. Why does changing the physical form of humanity lead to slavery of sex cat’s?

Well, no one talks about horse slaves. And we do still practice slavery of horses – it’s not like they have a choice about taking us around on their backs.

But to be honest, this only gets worse: what if you make you sex cat so that it wants whatever your fetish is? Then you are just making it happy – but you put that desire inside it in the first place!

Morality gets really hard really fast once we start engineering sentient life forms…

  5. it’s not like they have a choice about taking us around on their backs.

    Like I said, more Heinlein.

But to be honest, this only gets worse

Yes, I can see where you’d get (honestly) stuck.

Then you are just making it happy – but you put that desire inside it in the first place!

And there is a market for that, and you make a ton of wealth in the process. And none of your fellow humans decides to express their personal opinion about it. During that process. I can see smooth sailing for you.

  6. Cat. Girl. S3x. Slaves.

    Cat girl. S3x. Slaves.

    Cat girl s3x. Slaves.

    Cat, girl, s3x, slaves.

    Cat girl s3x? Slaves?
(this one sounds like a trailer for XXX drive-in) (bow chick wow wow)

    Cat? Girl? S3x slaves!

I could keep changing the punctuation, but it’s weird, no matter where you put the periods or commas. (he exclaimed!) And who am I to question cats, girls or s3x? S3x and slave together just makes me nervous! (and no…not in a good way)

‘If we give up family formation it’s game over; we’ll be outbred by cultures that don’t.”

With the exception of Right-Wing, Christians this isn’t on the horizon. It’s in our rear view mirror! James Taranto of the WSJ calls it “The Roe Effect” when referring to politics in America.

The Christian Right will have a majority (over liberals) in 15 to 25 years because the left is having 1.3 children per ‘family’, and the Christian right is having about 4.3 children per FAMILY.

The obvious changer to that equation is how newcomers vote.

  7. There is a very good point to the “outbreeding” problem there:

    >>If we give up family formation it’s game over; we’ll be outbred by cultures that don’t.

    >Culture is memetic, not genetic.

IOW, you cant run out of americans, by definition.

  8. “Why does changing the physical form of humanity lead to slavery of sex cat’s?” Because Abortion has made “Human” conditional. We have, by law, things that are not Human, yet, and so may be removed like an unwanted tumor. So obviously we can genetically and surgically this tumor in the eyes of the Law and Society, these acts being lest brutal then the killing which is legal now. Now, there is no legal ruling about what a Human actually is, other then a tumor that has touched air. Is a heart Human enough? No, Hospitals sell them all the time and no call has gone out by anyone to stop the Slaving. So, how much can you change a “Pre-Human” before it stops being Human in the eyes of the Law? “Fuzzy Wuzzy” is a fun poem and a neat paradox, but not something that the Legal System is up to dealing with…..

  9. I say develop SENS and we can do away with the whole family thing. These kind of social conservatives are as irritating as liberal-lefties.

  10. Because Abortion has made “Human” conditional.

Humans were always conditional. Abortion is a relatively minor aspect. For example, if I die, which is generally thought will happen, then I’m no longer human. If I kill people in cold blood, especially in a particularly heinous or brutal way, then society has ways to remove me from it either through imprisonment or some sort of capital punishment.

  11. Ah, no, I don’t think so. Even when dead we still treat the body with respect, and do not allow it’s consumption, for example. And even if you are removed from society by society, you still are to be treated with respect. No cruel or unusual punishment, for example. No, before when the line seemed fuzzy, tie when on the side of caution, like in hunting, where you don’t shoot unless you are sure it’s a deer. Abortion changed that dynamic, and the fallout of it as medical technology advances will be messy. How do you write a law to ban inter-uterus manipulation without banning Abortion?

And even if you are removed from society by society, you still are to be treated with respect. No cruel or unusual punishment, for example. No, before when the line seemed fuzzy, tie went to the Innocent, on the side of caution, like in hunting, where you don’t shoot unless you are sure it’s a deer. Abortion changed that dynamic, and the fallout of it as medical technology advances will be messy. How do you write a law to ban inter-uterus manipulation without banning Abortion?

  13. Der Schtumpy – You have a point. But how many of those 4.3 children STAY “Christian” Right? Not all of them. Not by a very long way.

  14. He is missing one point, which is that women have another bid besides submission: fatherhood.

Right now there is little incentive for men to marry and form families because sex is free outside marriage and the family can all be taken away from men on whim. Fatherhood is intrinsically rewarding (IMO), but with the family laws we have a man can lose his home, wife, kids and 1/2 his paycheck for 20 years (or longer) in one swift move, and end up in debtor prison if he starts missing payments. He essentially becomes a slave to the ex-wife, who is free to date around and live it up and isn’t is required to spend the alimony money she gets on the man’s children (assuming they’re even his).

So where’s the incentive to get married and have kids, exactly? Marriage is all stick, no carrot.

Change the family laws. Make no-fault divorce between spouses with minor children damn near impossible (or ban it), and make sure that if childless spouses split up the property is divided equitably and that no alimony is given to either side. Woman have fought for and won economic independence from men – so let them have it.

  15. If life spans increase to hundreds, or even thousands of years, then it seems likely to me that couples will come together for a specific 20 year vow and not think anything of it. At that point it isn’t like it is a significant part of their lives. Perhaps two people take a 20 year sabbatical from work and dedicate the time to raising a kid.

With lifespans that long, it becomes fairly easy for everyone to do their demographic duty and more.
