  1. The military is full of good intelligent men that know their history. They do try to fill the ranks with political allies and destroy the career of political enemies but I refuse to believe that those good men wouldn’t ultimately stand up to them. I could be a fool for believing but I’ve known too many even though I’d admit they are in the minority.

      1. From the NY Times article:
Though their critiques differ in some respects, a common thread is that Mr. Rumsfeld’s assertive style has angered many in the uniformed services as he has sought to establish more clear-cut civilian control over the Pentagon and at times involved himself in the details of war-planning more than his predecessors.

Bullshit. LBJ is notorious for saying that “they can’t bomb an outhouse without my approval.” Civilian control of the military has been the standard for our entire history and every military member knows it. Lincoln sacked several generals. Truman fired McArthur. Firing generals and admirals happens quite often in wartime.

I’ve spent almost my entire adult life either in the military or directly supporting them as a contractor. I’ve studied military history for over 40 years. In all that, I’ve never once heard of a case where US military members were prohibited their freedom of religion or experienced such condemnation of conservative Christian organizations. There have always been restrictions on political activities and speech but I know of no case where a military member has been threatened with action under the UCMJ for donating money to a group like the Tea Parties. This is fascism, pure and simple.

        1. Bullshit indeed. Our blog idiot conflates incompetence with the post topic: persecution of religious soldiers. Incompetence isn’t being punished by Obama. If Obama was wanting to punish incompetence, we’d being seeing people fired for the incompetence of healthcare.gov. Instead, Obama continues his war on our veterans and their morale.

        2. ” I’ve never once heard of a case where US military members were prohibited their freedom of religion”

During Desert Storm jewish soldiers were given dog tags that did not say jewish
and were told to not tell any saudi national they were jewish.

          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Jews_in_Saudi_Arabia#Modern_Era
“When American military personnel were stationed in Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War, permission for small Christian worship services was eventually granted, but Jewish services were only permitted on US warships.”

      2. You should wach the documentary, The Surge. We won in Iraq and whatever Obama did after we won he should get credit or criticism for. The same goes with Afghanistan where Obama’s policies have not been going well.

Don’t blame Bush or random nameless generals. Blame the man telling them what to do, Obama.

Also, you may want to go back and look at how Obama did change generals. Then after selecting new leaders fired one for someone on his staff saying Biden was an idiot. McCrystal and the Obamacare phone operator are the only people Obama has fired as punishment and it was because their actions hurt Obama’s ego. Fast and Furious, Benghazi, the Russian Reset, shovel ready jobs, or Obamacare no one responsible for these scandals were fired.

        1. We won in Iraq?
Ah, so, that would explain why Nobody from the Administration dared visit iraq for even more then a few hours.

I would define victory conditions as “The average american soldier, contractor, citizen
or dependent can go do market shopping in Baghdad without feeling they have to carry
anything more dangerous then a flashlight”

          1. Well, yeah, actually it was.

Until Obama decided to throw it away. Because he thought (and thinks) that it’s more important to “end” wars than to win them.

Unless it’s against his domestic enemies. Then he’s all in.

Fortunately, he’s an incompetent on all fronts.

          2. I thought the US won on Iraq when Bush visited that aircraft carrier or whatever with the huge letters “mission accomplished” written on it. Wasn’t it?

  2. Looks like Obama decided it was high time the military was re-educated. The Democrats can’t keep losing their ballots in the mail forever.

    1. Wodun. How cynical. You know the democrats have their top men looking into this ballots in the mail thing.

      1. That doesn’t excuse Obama failing to ensure they can vote or indoctrinating that Christians and Tea Party groups are enemy of the state and any involvement with them can get you court marshalled.

        1. Soldiers belong to one party “The band of brothers”,
Soldiers believe in one faith “Green”.

They swear an oath “that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, ”

Nothing in there about Parties, politics, or religion.

  3. Don’t donate to the tea party or to evangelical Christian groups — that was the message soldiers at a pre-deployment briefing at Fort Hood said they received from a counter-intelligence agent who headed up the meeting.

Is there a whiff of critical thinking linked to any of these charges? Do you accept everything in this article based on a “Fox News reporter” telling you they’re true? No soldiers are cited here by name. The so-called counter-intelligence guy cited here isn’t named either. In fact, no one in the article is named at all. And the artilce ends with this tid-bit:

But the Army officials at Fort Hood said in a Breitbart.com report that the soldiers’ claims weren’t true.

Honestly, are there any critical thinkers here at all? Rand tells you all how frightening it is that you “put up with this”, and he advises you to get a gun. I find it more frightening that you don’t give one second thought to a bunch of unsourced junk put in front of you.

    1. Just because the Blow Job Media doesn’t cover a story that makes Democrats look bad, it doesn’t mean the story isn’t true. This isn’t the first time this has been reported. There is a pattern of abuse going on.

    2. Are these the same army officials that said the Ft Hood attack was workplace violence?

Considering the way the Obama administration has intervened in how chaplins can conduct their mission, the story linked here isn’t out of place.
