  1. Oddly, I will be in Berlin next week. My father-in-law was there at the end of the war and we are bringing him there on our way to anniversary celebrations for the crossing of the Moselle River – which he and thousands of his friends did with people shooting at them. As for Berlin, his job there was to throw the locals out of their homes to make room for the allied headquarters people – so he hopes nobody recognizes him after seventy years.

    Anyhow, the 25th Anniversary of the fall of the wall is Nov. 9th – we will be leaving Berlin early on the 8th. No doubt we will see some of the anniversary stuff going on. Will try to remember to report on it, if anything interesting happens.
