And of course, early this morning, it was 1:11:11, and then, ten hours later, 11:11:11 on 1/1/11.
Anyway, I have a space bleg. I have a vague recollection of a chart that shows all of NASA’s failed attempts to develop a new launcher over the past decades. Does anyone else know about it, and how to find it?
Define “attempt”. Does it have to move past viewgraph phase to count?
Not necessarily. SLI and OSP never really moved past viewgraph phase, but I’d count them. There was also Alternate Access in the early nineties.
How bout anything that cost more than, say, $100M before it was canceled?
MAybe we should start calibrating NASA expenditures in Falcons: i.e., the amount SpaceX needed to develop and fly the Falcon 9 plus Dragon.
Have you asked Mark Wade? I’m pretty sure I’ve seen something similar on astronautix.com before
Meh… see you Veteran’s (Armistice) Day.
Haven’t seen the chart.
This Hobby Space link has a section marked “NASA/Military Test Vehicle Programs – Canceled or Completed.” More a table than a chart though.
