  1. “your clothes are shot to paradise, but your body gets left behind”

    Ewwwwwwwww. Pass the eye bleach.

  2. I put on some holy skivvies this AM. And now that I look, they’re gone! You may be on to something here.

Is anyone here signed up for the <a href=http://eternal-earthbound-pets.com/

    "Eternal Earth-Bound Pets" service?

I know I’d sure hate for my wife’s little ‘foofy’ mini-Schnauzer type dog to starve while I’m trotting around up there and generally enjoying Heaven.

  3. wodun,
missing socks are ‘spun’ into a parallel universe during the rinse & spin cycles. That’s just simple math!

    E=MC2 * [xS+xU]

where “S” is socks and “U” is skivvies And as the number of socks and skivvies increases per load, the higher the probability that you will LOSE socks to the ‘other side’.

Just be glad you don’t live where they wind up! They must be knee deep in socks and skivvies over ‘there’.

  4. Der Schtumpy, my eldest daughter basically used that during my explanation of Hawking Radiation with the spontaneous matter-antimatter pair production. The answer to “Where to they come from?” Is apparently “Lost Socks, right?”

  5. Either it didn’t happen, or there aren’t very many righteous people.

I suspect the Rapture probably happened just before the 2008 election. And like you I think the ride left with a lot of empty seats.

But it would explain why the last two and a half years have been such a, er, Tribulation.

  6. Explains the missing socks.

No, it doesn’t. Socks are the larval stage of coathangers. That’s why socks disappear and coathangers multiply.

  7. I’ve got lots of kids so have to buy lots of sock, so does anyone know how to get coat hangers to mate?

  8. Andrew W Says:

“I’ve got lots of kids so have to buy lots of sock, so does anyone know how to get coat hangers to mate?”

Oh man, nothing could be simpler:

just hang them up in the closet next to each other. A short time later, when you try to remove one, you’ll see they’ve mated for life.

  9. Do you remember the name of that SF short story? I think there were three stages in the life cycle–paper clips, something else (pens?) and coat hangers.

  10. Do you remember the name of that SF short story? I think there were three stages in the life cycle–paper clips, something else (pens?) and coat hangers.

Oops. Never mind. Google says safety pins. paper clips, coat hangers; Avram Davidson, “Or All the Seas with Oysters”. I thought I had read it earlier than that.

  11. It couldn’t happen because a couple of requisits have not happened. I am surprised that an old-line pastor was that foolish. Re-read the Bible. There are certain things that must come about before the second coming can happen They were ignored by him. Go to II Thes. and read slowly to enhance understanding!
