  1. What I don’t understand is why no republicans are making this point while pointing out the president is a liar. The only reason I can think of is with all his guys in position, Obama just might delay payments, legal or not, creating a crisis for the purpose of reversing 2010 tea party gains.

  2. Civil war? Would all the Social Security recipients attack in a massive military assault? Would we see columns of armored personnel carrying…walkers? Or batteries of 155 mm Dentucream cannon? Somehow I don’t think that would be much of a challenge.

  3. MfK, very few WWII vets are left. They would be the ones I would worry about pissing off if I was the government, because those guys knew how to plan and fight battles. Of course, I don’t know that I’d want to piss off a bunch of Korea or ‘Nam vets, either, but for different reasons.

Then again, I don’t know why it’s such a surprise that a spoiled Baby Boomer would disrespect and threaten his elders with the spectre of not printing Social Security cheques…

Timing, perhaps, ken. Imagine the President somberly declaring on August 3 that he’s not going to pay SS pensions that month. That will be the point to raise the point. Uh…excuse me, Mr. President? Can I just point out something you may have overlooked…?

Obama looks like a fool or a bully. Possibly both.

Keep in mind the old adage: never interrupt your enemy when he is in the process of hanging himself.

  5. Well, I’ll be waiting for it and enough articles have come out so they couldn’t have missed it (BO doesn’t read in those circles.) But they aren’t called the stupid party for nothing.

  6. Obama could go on TV and strangle a basket full of kittens and the Press would rave about how he’s reducing the feral cat problem. He knows that he’ll get a pass from everyone but Fox which is why they continue to try and marginalize/demonize Fox News.

No. They’d say Bush made him do it.

  8. Mfk, my point about civil war is not that a bunch of blue hairs are going to launch an armed insurrection against the government, it is that their living descendants in the military and the national guard may determine that their oath to defend the Constitution against enemies foreign and domestic now requires them to remove a President and Justice Department that is blatantly abusing their authority and their Constitutional role at the expense of their family members’ well being.

The current debt crisis is easy to solve if you have a spine. Leadership over the last twenty or so years has not had that fortitude, and it does not appear that our current crop has it either.

Carl said it best a few weeks ago…if this bunch knew that failure to resolve the problem would result in them being hanged from a tree at the end of the day, an effective plan to resolve the crisis would be crafted and passed by noon.

It is obvious that the majority of our leadership do not fear any accountability for their decisions.

  9. …our leadership do not fear any accountability for their decisions.

With abundant evidence to support that position. Nobody raises an eyebrow over a super congress for the sole purpose of avoiding accountability. That constitution thing is so yesterday.

  10. Ken, the constitution is old, like really old, maybe even a hundred years old, and no one can really read it because it’s written in old english.
