    The article states, Die Linke has roots in the SED, the old ruling party of East Germany. Specifically, it is the product of a merger between the SED’s successor party and the WASG

    Die Link sounds a lot like our Democrats – scroll down to “Policies.”

    That paper, Junge Welt, according to Wikipedia

    “…was first published on 12 February 1947 in the Soviet Sector of Berlin. junge Welt became the official newspaper of the Central Council (Zentralrat) of the Free German Youth on 12 November 1947.”
