  1. From what we’ve seen of the clowns in this administration with degrees from prestigious universities, they may be credentialed, but they’re not actually educated. 🙁

  2. Like I told you, Student Government is about handing out the Student Activities Fees, but every once in a while, you get a whimsical slate of candidates.

Like the slate of Engineering students who were chafing at the Donna Shalala-imposed Ethnic Studies requirement (yes, I indeed worked for that Donna Shalala), and reasoned that fair is fair, and students in non-Engineering disciplines should have to enroll in ECE 430 Random Signal Analysis. As a general studies requirement, to broaden one’s horizons.

And to insure that Liberal Arts majors had an employable skill, they would as a graduation requirement enroll in the Diesel Driving School on Highway 151 just north of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin.

Ugh. All that taught me was the pointlessness of forcing people to jump through hoops for pocket change. And that a lot of people would rather beg for $100 from the student government than come up with it on their own.

  3. No offense to the grand majority of folks in here, but my experience is that most college graduates aren’t smart enough to pour pis…sole out of a boot, with the directions on the heel! And the higher the degree, the LESS many of them know and the more insulated their lives become.

Tried to train a young man with a shiny new Masters in animal Science, he’d graduated last week, U of F in Tallahassee, lived at home with mom and dad until…he was still living there, 26 y/o, I took him THE furthest he’d EVER been from home, JACKSONVILLE (175 miles)…couldn’t read nor figure out the road atlas, I tried to explain it to him….he just kept asking , ‘…how do you KNOW that’s where we are’,…says I, ‘see those mile markers on the entrances & exits on the paper…they correspond with those little, green, signs, with, the, numbers, we, are, passing’ (!)…his favorite saying was, ‘how do you know THAT!?’…he lasted 9, nine, days…I fired him because he couldn’t work at night…it made his eyes and head hurt…4.0 student, Deans List 7 of last 8 semesters…

A genius in our home office, same company, Master Animal Nutrition, working on her Doctorate, her goal was to teach…I called her from Toronto, Canada…told her the manager wanted to speak to her…’…aren’t you in Canada?…yes I am…I only speak English, says she…uh, Mary, he speaks English too…says she…well, I’ll try it, but I don’t understand ‘them’ if their accent is too thick…I believe she is well up the food chain at U of AR, teaching Poultry Science now I believe I’ll eat more beef and pork…

22 y/o…(working & looking for scholarships, her desire was to teach in a foreign country…)…couldn’t figure out how to move a 18′ trailer…WITHOUT a vehicle hooked to it…it had 4 wheels, two on either side’…it has ALL 4 wheels…doesn’t that mean it has 4 wheel drive?’, says she…

…at a different job, I had a Manager who BRAGGED THAT HE GRADUATED FROM COLEJ without ever reading a book…(I misspelled that because he had never read a dictionary eethur…he posted 1000 notices with spelling mistakes…for all to misread…)…even when his brag got back to his management…they promoted him, because we (the lowly seen, all military background trained electronics & instrument techs) complained that he didn’t know WTF he was doing…his boss…Masters in HUMAN RESOURCES…taught at night….thought WE were too hard on him…

My educated (knuckleheaded) acquaintance favorite is me ex-S-i-L…my brother married her months after she got her Masters in Head Trauma Nursing…she was a reasonably sharp, personable person…she kept taking classes, seminars, training…the more she took, the less she knew, the snootier she got…she finally, and to this day, she got to the point where she had NO examples of life, love, work or even marriage that did NOT tie into her work / training…she also slowly but surely began to see us (non medical types) as uneducated (including my brother, her ex, who sent her @$$ through school, it was his idea for her to get her DNP!)…now all her friends are hospital people/ university people and she sees the world as us and …them (but say them like ‘they’ need a bath and some newer or cleaner clothes)…she teaches at TWO nursing programs in MN because she’s, just, THAT, good…(aw BS…)

I could go through all the jobs I’ve had, people I’ve known and do this stuff (and I suppose I’ve got people who could do this t me too..), but there’s a finite number of bits, bytes and MegaGigaTBs that the internet can hold. But God knows I was not the worlds greatest employee when I went to work originally, but that was when I was 14 or 15! (and I cut grass and deliverd newspapers before that for 3 yrs) So I wonder if that’s not part of the problem too with the ‘educated’ among us.

If you have zero work experience at 22, 26 or even 30 (I worked for two of those over the years) then at 22, 26 or 30 you are JUST learning what people used to learn at 14 / 18 at a first job. And BY 22, 26 or 30 you’ve been told that you are smart, cute and in CHARGE. If your first job is as a Supervisor, Crew Leader, Manager when do you learn your basic job skills? When do you make mistakes at work and learn from them? And in 21st Century America you sure as h3ll won’t get FIRED for screwing the pooch!

And personally, I learned a couple valuable lessons from getting fired, not the least of which was punctuality, ongoing education to keep up and how to manage people below me (most of that training came from NOT doing what I had seen being done by boobs ABOVE me!) But without those experiences I truly believe that I’d be an ‘example’ here and one of MY ex-co-workers or employees would be writing this. And in current America we are cranking out WAY more college grads than we can use, and they seemingly don’t know squat to boot on top of that.

I just hope ‘college smart’ smells & tastes good, so the zombies chase them and eat their brains first when the ZA starts. They’ll be easy pickin’s too, they can’t read a map and they think they can ‘outsmart’ the zombies…like they do to us daily.

    1. I put together a nice little written test for engineering interviewees. It’s short, only four simple problems, but you’d be surprised at how many simply refuse to even take it for one reason or another. Hell, I had one guy in here that I swore just wanted to give me a sales pitch for some program he wrote – he kept trying to show me his laptop.

Don’t usually have that problem with the technicians, especially the ex-mil, if you can even get them in the door – they must be in high demand.

  4. …not very Jiminator.

They’ll stumble around aimlessly, hoping for change.

Then they’ll follow the first jug eared, reasonably clean (for a zombie), well ‘mumbled’, AA zombie that happens by…

I’ve got a question though. Can zombies starve if they don’t get enough to eat?
