The “boiling oceans” remark is (ahem) loony. Hansen said Venus’ oceans boiled away, and that it could happen here w/o emissions reduction. Um, aren’t we a bit far away from the sun for water to boil here? And how in the heck does he know that Venus ever had oceans in the first place?
He saw it on “Forecasting the End” on TWNBC.
I’m just glad to hear he’s former NASA now. That will probably be NASA’s greatest achievement for 2013.
I think it was a deliberate strategy to appropriate NASA’s still good name at the time. He and his group should never have been part of NASA, which should focus on space only in a non-partisan role. At best, he and his group should have been/be folded into NOAA.
Doesn’t he realize how offensive using that word to mean “primitive” is to the Neanderthal community?
