The “lower-level” scapegoats are starting to sing.
This was inevitable. And since these people follow the Clinton playbook (they are, after all, many of the same people), you can expect vicious attacks on their character and credibility once they come forward.
Only acknowledged when the ‘wrong’ team is in office of course.
Good people just want to live their lives. Evil people want to run other peoples lives. Guess which get in charge?
Yeah…don’t think low level managers would make a decision to do something like this borderline illegal (if not full blown illegal) unless the higher ups told them to. But if they didn’t have the foresight to save incriminating E-mails, record conversations or phone calls, the bosses will deny all knowledge and they will be thrown under the bus. Just like they tried to do in the gunwalker scandal. They initially tried to blame the gun store owners for approving the illegal sales, but some of them wisely recorded the conversations showing they were ordered by law enforcement to approve the sales so they could “track” them, blowing the lid off the whole thing..

even if the ‘lower level’ managers didn’t TELL them to do this, why didn’t they tell them to STOP when the weekly / monthly / quarterly reports went UP to the managers?
Two of the reports I heard early on, said the ‘agent’ who was doing this stuff to the conservative groups was ‘pushed’ on the Cincinnati IRS Office, as a political appointee, by someone in D.C. That, to me, would mean someone tied to the WH. A (D) Congressman or Senator doesn’t have the juice to hand out a Federal Job.

Ahh, 2112! You be a Rush fan. If I remember right, that song was based loosely on Ayn Rand’s short novel “Anthem”, which is the name of another Rush album.
I think the WH had the journalists in their pocket UNTIL the wiretaps were discovered. I think the media would have followed this President through the gates of Hell, until the wiretaps were discovered.
I’ll go so far as to say, the WH could have wiretapped one or two AP journalists. Then the majority of those NOT wiretapped journalists would have thought, “…well old Charley must have done SOMETHING for Obama to do that!.” Or “…Charley and Marge musta been working for Glenn Beck on the side, otherwise, Obama would NEVER do anything like this!!”
But getting caught wiretapping 20 phone lines, some of them editors [which means EVERY reporter working for THAT guy got recorded…] puts ALL of the AP reporters at odds with this WH. And although the AP, UPI, Reuters, etc are all business competitors, they all get their hackles up when ANY of their organizations gets attacked by some gov’t entity!
Some of the older ones among us remember when LBJ told his minions, “…if I’ve lost Cronkite, I’ve lost Middle America”.
The modern paraphrase by Obumble may work out to be, “…if I screwed over the AP, I’ve lost the American MSM.”
Here’s hoping for an Impeachment, and sooner is better than later.
