  1. The guy panel is Chris Shank, Policy Director for the Science, Space, and Technology Committee, House of Representatives (i.e., Lamar Smith’s guy: it shows).

  2. As expected, Lori is quite politically incorrect.

Hoo boy, was she ever! After an extended combination reminiscence about the 2008 transition and pointed advice spiel about the general characteristics of programs that are capable of surviving changes of administration (Have a program that has a well-defined purpose. Have a program that is well-managed and meeting its milestones. Have a program that is not blowing out its budget.), she pulled the shiv all the way out and slit SLS/Orion from crotch to sternum. She even brought up – Gasp! – Falcon Heavy. Dittmar did not look pleased.

    1. A better way would be to not elect a man as president who is willing to blow up the previous president’s program out of personal pique. There was nothing wrong with Constellation that could not have been fixed the same way that Clinton fixed the space station. Lori’s history of selling her soul in exchange for power and her continued self-justification for her disastrous tenure at NASA ensures that she will never be given an position of trust again at the space agency. That is an altogether good thing, IMHO.

          1. “A better way would be to not elect a man as president ” presupposes no other option but a man.

A better way would be to not elect a person as president

      1. Hehe, as if the administration had anything to do with Constellation getting canceled. The forces against Mike Griffin were marshaling before the election and knew they could win no matter what bozo replaced him.

  3. LG sure shot it down.. if something can benefit from dual use push that to take it out of the state where political whims control it. We have this beautiful thing called capitalism.. boy he sure didn’t like hearing that. NASA has always loved having that tight fist./
