  1. I think it’s fascinating that it took an uncouth populist like Trump to radicalize the Dems to such an extent. We gone far beyond #Resist, if that were the case Biden would be a shoe in. Rather than have the 2020 election be such a stark choice, imagine if Hilary had won or perhaps a milquetoast republican. The threat is not the stark choice, but rather the creeping dissolution of the representative state, represented by the presumption to power of the deep state. Eventually leading to a dissolution of the Electoral College for popular vote. Motor voter registration and then eventually doing away with the formality of an election. In a digital age, AI algorithms can replace the biased and unfair need to attend a polling booth and replace it with digital canvassing based on your race, income, location, spending and saving habits, past associations and social media contributions. Along with bias adjustments based on population statistics, needed to compensate for the regressive factors of racism, sexism and xenophobia that work against the greater good of liberating social justice requirements. Your pre-computed vote will be factored automatically within an error bar of 2% or less. Good enough for government employment. Only the anachronistic trouble makers will insist on voting a paper ballot in challenge to the inherently fair and unbiased but socially just FaceVote!

Oh, I don’t think Trump had anything to do with it. Where they are now was decades in the making. If anything, Obama was the one that abandoned incrementalism on many issues, at least to the extent he thought Democrats had the ability to seize power.

    2. Remember the push to outlaw secret ballots and make Card Check the law of the land? If it “works for labor unions” why not institute it for votes on other things?

Think how “efficient” and “money saving” it would be. Of course any future employer, or member of the majority controlled government, might discriminate in the future: “Are you or have you ever been a card carrying member of the Republican Party?” (/sarc, if it is needed)

  2. What I think is interesting is all the big project proposals out there. The US could make quite the memorial for itself with the money that could be spent.
