    Depends. If they’re merely moving to other swamp work in DC, then it would be a wash. Normally, I’d say that’s unlikely, but the story alleges a high rate of refusing to move. If true, that indicates there’s another employment option for these workers. I doubt it’s to move into the private sector in DC.

    1. It also shows that these people in the swamp have no particular expertise in what their department manages. Probably a lot of HR types and mid-level managers who prefer the good life and not move to nowhere like Grand Junction or Omaha. (Now if it was Butte or Pocatello, I could understand not wanting to move…)

  2. USDA just went through this having been exiled to the center of ag world in Kansas City. If they are keeping their same pay rate, they have no idea the boost to their life they are getting. They can get twice the house they currently have in the swamp for starters.

      1. KC is 16.6 to DC’s 29.3. That’s an $8k/yr difference for a GS12.

        BTW, Houston is 32.54; which bothers me, because I don’t want those incompetent clowns moving here.
