  1. When I was commuting on the MARC between Union station in DC and Maryland, “Lunch Bucket Joe” would occasionally make an appearance. As a trainload of MARC commuters and I waited to board, on a Friday of a long work-week, we were suddenly pushed back into the gate by station personnel. Then half a dozen black SUVs would roar out onto the platform, toward a waiting Amtrak train. A dozen cartoonish Men in Black would appear from some of the SUVs, and form a phalanx to shield the Vice President from any lurking malefactors as he boarded the train. This would usually hold up my train for half an hour, and somehow always seemed to take place during either bitter winter cold weather, or one of DC’s more brutally hot and humid days – the gate area protects against neither.

We gradually learned more of the details from rail personnel. Biden didn’t just sit in a seat with a few Secret Service around him. They cleared three entire cars, one on either side of the car Biden was in plus his. And sometimes the Biden wasn’t even Joe, but Jill, returning from a shopping trip.

The reaction of the entire trainload of MARC commuters was always disgust and derision – and believe me, there probably no more than five or six Republicans among those hundreds.

That demonstration always had the opposite of Biden’s desired effect on lots of people who were probably his supporters. It was just too blatant a disregard for them.

  2. Wastin’ away again here in Bidenville….
Lookin for my, lost roller of text…
Some people say there’s mendacity to blame…
    But I know,
    It’s all Trump’s damn fault….
