    It doesn’t matter because the thought is in the right place. Many people have no problem paying more to recycle than to landfill. It isn’t a rational decision making process so rationality can’t combat it, with one exception.

    “For instance, the greenhouse benefits from recycling a plastic bottle are so miniscule that even just rinsing the bottle in water heated by coal-powered electricity yields a net increase in carbon emissions.”

    Cost wont change minds but showing how recycling can be worse for the environment might.
