  1. I’m pessimistic. I hope I am wrong. But since nothing substantial has changed in the mechanics of how Georgia does its elections, I don’t expect a different result. I expect a Democrat sweep by 1000 votes in 3 weeks and after a dozen suitcases of found ballots and 16′ of unbroken water pipes. Or maybe gas this time. Whatever it will be it will no doubt effect the surveillance cams this time, so electrical blackout maybe?

  2. A friend of mine early in my adulthood was strongly into politics and thought he leaned ‘R’, he often voted to maintain gridlock at the state level. There were certain ‘D’ policies that benefited his business besides.

After seeing some of the bone-headed things the Republicans have done with a trifecta at the state level recently, it wasn’t too difficult to recall that conversation and understand the sentiment.

Unfortunately for my ballot, there wasn’t even a choice at the state level to vote for gridlock (inasmuch as all of the candidates were unopposed), so I just did what I could and went back about my business.

People will still be people and vote one race or the other, or over-vote, or put in write-ins, or leave ballots blank… It won’t be 100% matching vote counts for both candidates.

Anyone foolish enough to write in Trump for either or both Senate offices “to make a statement” are shooting themselves in the foot. Or both feet. With a shotgun.

  3. Boy am I tired of all this winning we were promised. What the saying laying down with dogs get up with fleas?
Republicans deserve to lose until they can become a party that doesn’t rely on fear to win.

    1. Democrat’s motivating ideology is based on fear and hatred. It centers on fighting monsters and making monsters of innocents so that Democrats have someone to persecute. Trump voters were motivated by the USA being a place to pursue your desires and do great things, which in turn would make our country great. Trump rightly pointed out the Democrats sharp turn to Marxism and our country will get to experience Democrat’s lust for authoritarianism for the next four years.

    2. Democrats deserve to lose until they can become a party that doesn’t rely on cheating to win.

FTFY. Kicking out poll observers is prima facie evidence of cheating.

    1. Democracy is dead. Now that big tech, China, and the Democrats can print votes-on-demand, we might as well be living in an African dictatorship. Sadly, the Africans, Europeans, and Asians are no-doubt laughing at us. “Now dat is fraud! Ha. Those stupid Americans!”

    2. Biden isn’t going to stand up to China, just like Obama didn’t stand up to China. China is the model for Democrats, rigged elections, party control over corporations, persecution of dissidents, and corruption. Democrats support doing to their domestic political opponents what China does to its citizens.

And a quick look at that guy you linked shows he says unserious things on Twitter about puppets and song writers. https://twitter.com/ABlinken/status/1322235982855495683

The other guy you linked has a timeline showing the diplomatic work he is doing uniting and strengthening our allies to stand up to China. https://twitter.com/SecPompeo/status/1346622542409306112

  4. It turns out going full batsh- QAnon election conspiracy crazy does not attract suburban voters.

Mene mene tekhel upharsin, you sad sacks. Having sown the wind, now reap the whirlwind.

      1. You seem to think I am unhappy with this. I am very happy the GOP is set to consume itself. I am happy that the party of delusion and utter abdication of integrity has lost. I had sworn never to vote for any Republican in any race ever again, because to do so would mean aligning with the kind of monsters who could support a person like Trump.)

        1. Paul, Please take heart – and remind yourself that not all Republicans are batsh- crazy. Reviewing the following list makes me feel better – maybe it will do the same for you:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Republicans_who_opposed_the_Donald_Trump_2020_presidential_campaign I hope a new generation of sensible Republicans can compete for your vote. As a Democrat, I want people who believe as I do to win elections, but as a citizen, I want our country to have responsible, competent, and fundamentally decent political parties, and I am hopeful that the Republicans can transform themselves into one again.

          1. When’s that going to happen with your party, Bob? It would be a first, since its inception.

Are you thrilled that you just sent an anti-Semite to the Senate?

          2. Hey Bob, when you look at people like Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, is “hopefulness” one of the emotions that drift through your mind? I mean, wouldn’t you consider them young enough to be considered “new generation”? How would you respond to someone who says to you “I see them as part of a new generation of sensible Democrats who are competing for my vote”?

          3. The charge that soon-to-be-Senator-Elect Warnock is anti-semitic is nonsense, and is mostly a product of conflating legitimate (and quite mild) criticism of Israel with anti-Jewish sentiment. I’m comfortable with Warnock’s stances on both the scourge of anti-semitism, and on Israel (he supports Israel, as I do, and he thinks, as I do, that as a democratic ally, Israel should hear some constructive criticism.) Here is what Warnock has to say for himself: https://jewishinsider.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/RGW_Israel_Editorial.pdf

Look at this article which summarizes all the anti-semitic charges against Warnock as well as similar charges against Loefler and Perdue: https://www.timesofisrael.com/georgias-senate-runoffs-all-the-jewish-drama-from-a-charged-campaign/ I think standing up to bigotry is important, but it isn’t the most important thing. This isn’t the time for politics as normal. Honestly, my overall reaction to the charges and counter-charges is: “What a waste of time to discuss this crap during the covid-19 pandemic!”

Long term, I think Trump’s assault on the Constitution and is a bigger issue, and I thought Trump should have been impeached, but I was very upset about the timing. I felt that January and February were a time to prepare for war against SARS-CoV-2. Shame on the Democrats for distracting Trump, but shame on Trump for the many many incompetent super-spreading months which have followed.

America is in the midst of a humanitarian disaster, largely self-imposed. I’m completely appalled and disgusted by our response to the pandemic. We need responsible competent leadership that focuses on quickly eliminating the threat of the novel coronavirus and gets us back to normal.

          4. Bob,

I wonder if you’ve ever talked to a Rite-Aid employee, one who is getting minimum wage and three quarters of her salary goes to food, shelter, health care and energy. The rest goes to her kids. She is competing for jobs with illegal immigrants who reduce her wages. She pays extra for health care from a medical monopoly. Her kids, even if they learn to code, compete with H-1B visas. She got kicked out of the city because it’s too expensive, and now her gas prices are going up to save the planet from carbon.

Her only hope was to vote for someone who actually champions the working class, Donald J Trump. She actually wanted to go to DC today because she knows the election was stolen by the corporations and bureaucrats running the US and transnational organizations… but she can’t afford it.

You might want to tell her to her face that she is a racist because she voted for Trump. You see, when you live in a bubble, its easy to pretend that Trump voters are racist people. But when you speak face to face with them, you’ll find a human who is just trying to survive.

          5. Jon, minutes ago, the President of the United States standing before a crowd, urged the Vice President to do something unconstitutional to keep himself in power while hosting a yet another super-spreading event. So, no, I wouldn’t say to the Rite Aide employee that she is racist for voting Trump (certainly not without any evidence of racism), but I would say to her that she voted for an incompetent no-nothing thieving menace to our health and our constitution. I would also tell the Rite Aide employee that her physical and financial wellbeing is tied to ending the pandemic, that we can crack down on illegal hiring practices without permanently separating children from their parents(!), and that we can join the rest of the Western world in providing affordable health care.

          6. Heh, I said “no-nothing” instead of “know-nothing”. I suppose I deserve to look silly for that. There must be some now ancient law of usenet that expresses the idea that it is inevitable that when you call someone an idiot, you’ll end up looking worse yourself.

          7. “I want our country to have responsible, competent, and fundamentally decent political parties,”

Democrats are competent. They are ruthless in their exercise of power whether it is government power, corporate power, or militant activist power. They have a party machine that has subverted our republic for well over a hundred years and are quite competent in rigging elections.

Decency though? From Obama saying it is Republicans turn to sit in the back of the bus as some sort of racial retribution to Biden saying Republicans want to enslave black people to Democrats waging five years of coast to coast violence to Democrat election workers cheering as observers were kicked out, Democrats have no decency.

Attacking the concept of decency and propriety is one of their ways of dismantling oppressive systems, or whatever progressive marxist dogma they say.

          8. Bob-1 remember when Democrats were complaining about ventilators but then while they were never really in short supply that Trump build out the stockpile and then the media never talked about it?

Remember when Democrats complained about testing for something that didn’t exist a few months prior and Trump’s policy developed many different tests and went from doing thousands of tests a day to millions a day in just a few short months?

Remember when Democrats said it was impossible to make a vaccine in a year and Trump’s Project Warp speed developed two in less than a year with at least two more coming soon and vaccinated over 17 million people?

How many simple products like printing a t-shirt or making a mug have happened on a scale like this over such short a period of time? The production, distribution, and administration of tests and vaccines is unparalleled in our history.

Trump kept doing what Democrats thought was impossible to accomplish. Their complaints have been unhinged from reality and Biden’s plan is to wear masks, something everyone has been doing for a year.

On the economy, space, foreign policy, disaster response, regulatory reform, and standing up for Americans while standing against our foreign competitors, Trump has been the best President in my life time.

        2. Ahh, you mistake my comment as this being bad for Republicans. You are in the whirlwind. Whatever hatred you have for the GOP wont save you from the progessive marxists.

  5. I’m not too surprised at the potential outcome here. The original vote was close enough for a run off and I wouldn’t be surprised if Democrats spent as much money as they did on the Presidential election. The media wouldn’t report on the crazy views of the Democrat candidates. To top it off, the state was firing elections whistleblowers and didn’t make any changes to ensure the validity of the vote.

    1. I think the spending was on the order of $800 M in the 8 weeks between the General and the Runoff. I haven’t cared enough to look to see how that broke down between the parties and PACs, but almost a billion dollars on these two seats feels insane to me, and I live in a swing state, where ad spending is already atrocious.

  6. Well if the Dems control the Senate – as it looks like it might be the case – then they control 2 of the 3 branches of government.

And that means we are in Big Trouble.

Look for more widespread forced wokeness, stupid spending on the order of Trillions along with the associated graft, economy-choking rules and regs, and deeper control by China, Soros, and Big Tech.

And if elections are now fraudulently fixed, there’s no more Republic. It is now a dictatorship as it became in Rome.

    The question is:

Will those who think their vote has been canceled stay quiet and opeaceful – as they always have in the past?

  7. I wonder if, after arrest and imprisonment, post Jan. 22, Trump will commit suicide in his jail cell shortly after the security cameras break down. Any bets? Or do we still believe they wouldn’t dare, that the RepubliClowns won’t let them?

I try not to forget that a sitting vice president murdered a political opponent and got away with it. That the 1824 election was transparently rigged. That the 1860 election led directly to a bloody civil war. That the 1876 election was traded for an end to Reconstruction, putting Rutherfraud B. Hayes in office, and that his successor, Chester Arthur, was assassinated after 6 months in office (probably the first use of the “lone nutjob theory”). And that’s just the beginning…

  8. … and that his successor, Chester Arthur, was assassinated after 6 months in office…

Hayes’ successor was James Garfield, who was assassinated. Chester Arthur, Garfield’s vice-president, succeeded him and completed his term.

  9. This is for Bob:

The VP has the right to do what is fair and honest. The election was stolen and it is obvious for anyone who dares to look at the evidence. Pence has the right to bring it back to the state houses.

I dare you to work in retail for a few years and then act like you’re better than the Trump supporter.

You are a member of the Ancien Regime and you think you are better than the working class. “Qu’ils mangent du gateau” should be your phrase. Look it up on wikipedia. It’s where you go for news.

    1. ” It’s where you go for news.” I’m watching Fox News right now:
guns drawn in the House chamber, congressman being instructed to wear gas masks due to tear gas, unconfirmed reports of shots fired. The reporters on Fox News keep asking whether the President is doing anything to de-escalate this (after encouraging this in the first place). The courts were the right place to resolve this dispute and everyone had ample opportunity to make their case in court. This is a very sad day.

      1. So Bob, it’s OK to burn, loot and destroy public and private property when protesting over “police brutality”, but a stolen election? Naw, that’s not allowed, Right? Tell me Bob, what was the state of your sadness when Uncle Hugo’s was burned to the ground?

        1. I haven’t been commenting here this year, but I was completely against the Black Lives Matter peaceful marches, so you can be sure I was against any looting! I strongly believe in the Black Lives Matter movement, but we are in the midst of a pandemic, and I thought any large gathering in person, with or without masks, indoors or outside, was a pretty irresponsible thing to do. We can debate the nuances of BLM (for example, I’m strongly pro-police, but like everyone of conscience, I want bad police to be flushed out of the ranks, and I believe in systematic racism on the police force) but I think a BLM debate is off-topic.

          1. I was unclear. I think everyone of conscience, including the overwhelming majority of cops, wants bad police flushed out. I’m not suggesting that there is agreement on systematic racism.

      2. The feds shot a lady. Do Democrats now support using live rounds on protesters?

Some of the protesters were rowdy but they didn’t assassinate anyone, burn down any buildings, throw explosives at cops, leave dismembered animals behind, or any of the things that Democrats have been doing these last five years.

Democrats have been murdering Republicans, beating them, burning down their businesses, attacking them on campuses, using violent mobs to shut down events, and on and on and on. Don’t expect Republicans to sit their quietly as Democrats use them as scapegoats that need to be murdered and persecuted so that Democrats can fight the patriarchy and systemic racism or whatever BS excuse Democrats have for their actions.

Did you have any outrage when Democrats executed two young black men in Seattle? When they assassinated a gay Trump supporter in Portland? When they cause billions of property damage all across the country?

We aren’t your punching bags and we aren’t going to walk into any boxcars.

    2. > the election was stolen

This is the sort of scurrilous bullshit that has led to the events of the last 24 hours. God damn you and every one like you.

      1. Paul D writes:

        “> the election was stolen

This is the sort of scurrilous bullshit that has led to the events of the last 24 hours. God damn you and every one like you.”

So you think that the events of the last 24 hours comes only from claims the election was stolen?

You haven’t paid attention to the last 5 years and are either willfully blind or choose to be ignorant.

Either way you damnings are easily laughed at and dismissed

  10. Bob-1, Soros, Democrat election thieves, One Worlders, Never Trumpers have all…

    all…

…requested a return visit from the Gods of the Copybook Headings.

And it is one request that will, in the next few years be forcibly granted.

    Without fail.

“And the burnt Fool’s bandaged finger
    goes wabbling back to the Fire;

And that after this is accomplished,
and the brave new world begins
When all men are paid for existing
and no man must pay for his sins,

    (e.g. like stealing an election)

As surely as Water will wet us,
as surely as Fire will burn,
The Gods of the Copybook Headings
    with terror and slaughter return!

Too bad 74 million voters who aren’t burnt finger fools and who pay their own way have to suffer as well.

  11. To “Engineer” (that’s a laugh) Bob-1 etc:

A large fraction of the 74 million viters who voted from Trump think the election was stolen from Trump.

They also have deep suspicions about this week’s Georgia Senate runoff.

your side did not say, “Ok well I can see how you might be concerned – let’s go through the votes and check the methodology and I think you’ll see that the election was not stolen.”

They didn’t take pains to prove the election wasn’t stolen. They didn’t take pains to maintain nationwide confidence in the election process.

They told those skeptical voters they are morons, the election was fair because they said it was, and that the morons should shut up.

If you guys were really honest with yourselves – let alone us – you’d agree that even if the election was fair, that sort of behavior only deepens the suspicions, and causes more internal conflict in a nation already internally conflicted.

    Great work.

    1. “you’d agree that even if the election was fair, that sort of behavior only deepens the suspicions, ” Of course I agree! Of course it would deepen suspicions. But that’s not what happened. For example, I listened to the full hour of President Trump talking with Georgia’s Secretary of State (a Republican who has been supportive of Trump in the past). Did you listen to it? Nothing like what you are describing above occurred. The secretary and his team took pains they took to ensure that the election was fair, and they patiently explained why the President’s claims were incorrect.

        1. “took pains they took” —> “….described the pains they took to ensure….

Huh? I can’t tell what it is you are trying to say.

          1. Please replace what I said with this sentence: “The secretary and his team described the pains they took to ensure that the election was fair, and they patiently explained why the President’s claims were incorrect.”

      1. “you’d agree that even if the election was fair, that sort of behavior only deepens the suspicions, ” Of course I agree! Of course it would deepen suspicions. But that’s not what happened.

Uh huh. 40% of the country’s voters disagree with you.

Democrats – your side – have done ZIP to allay voter’s suspicions that the Presidential and Georgia runoff elections were stolen.

        Shut up – they say.

Do you think I care at all about what the Secretary of State for Georgia said when he changed the election rules as suggested by democrats…which is illegal?

        1. I don’t know what you are referring to when you say “Do you think I care at all about what the Secretary of State for Georgia said when he changed the election rules as suggested by democrats…which is illegal?” I googled, but the media is full of discussions about why President Trump’s behavior on the phone call was probably illegal but hard to prosecute. In any case, do you think Trump supporter Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger is trying to cheat or otherwise commit election fraud? Do you think the judges across the country who dismissed the Trump campaign’s 60 post-election lawsuits were trying to cheat? It isn’t the job of either political party to convince the voters that the election was fair (no one with doubts would believe them). Instead, reassuring the voters is the job of the election officials, who are presumably committed to a fair election and can explain the safeguards put in place to ensure one. And failing that, the courts should step in. That’s what has happened – all the officials & judges involved have weighed in and said that there is no credible evidence of fraud. The fact that you don’t trust them is troubling, but I can’t believe that anything the Democratic party could say would change your mind.

          1. Nearly all the lawsuits were dismissed because they came too late, too early, lacked standing, or some other process reason rather than an examination of the evidence.

The problem is that once tainted votes are introduced into the population, they can’t be sifted and removed even if election fraud is proved. The remedy is to nullify an election, something judges don’t want to get involved in. There is no way to audit the vote, only the process and the evidence shows the process was abused.

Republicans have been pushing for voting integrity for a long time because Democrats have a history going back to the 1800’s of cheating. That’s why we have things like election observers. Democrats have been pushing to remove all safeguards from our elections. They don’t care about legitimacy because they think the existence of our country is illegitimate. Just like Trump was justification to suspend normal rules of conduct, they view gaining power to remake society the same way.

You even made a similar comment yourself up above.

          2. Bob-1 said:

“The fact that you don’t trust them is troubling, but I can’t believe that anything the Democratic party could say would change your mind.”

I told you what they would have to do.

            They haven’t done it.

In fact they’ve done the opposite.

            Which only fans the flames.

Of course that’s the idea…fan the flames and then use the fire to impose ever more draconian rules and regulations and justify all sorts of liberty-killing actions.

            Bob-1 also said earlier:

“” Of course I agree! Of course it would deepen suspicions. But that’s not what happened. ”

            Yeah? Says who?

            You?

Prove it. And don’t give me crap about what other politicians say…

            PROVE it.

            You can’t.

So perhaps you’ll understand if I take your
“But that’s not what happened. ” and flush it with all the rest of the dreck you and your party of knaves and thieves say.

      2. “Of course I agree! Of course it would deepen suspicions. But that’s not what happened.”

We all saw the video of observers being kicked out to cheers, of windows being covered, and election workers wearing BLM clothes. Those are not the signs of an honest election nor is it when Abrams goes on TV bragging about removing signature validation.

Last July, in Georgia, an election worker was arrested for rigging the vote in a primary. He scanned in fake ballots and then certified the results. He did it for a Democrat in a Democrat primary. You guys cheat in your own primaries, another example Bernie Sanders, and we are supposed to believe you don’t cheat in the general election?

    2. You can look at it like the Democrat’s riots and protests over the last year. They think they are protesting systemic racism. A Republican can look at the data and disagree with them, can offer solutions to solve many of the problems, and support their right to protest.

Shouldn’t Democrats look at this similarly?

Many Republicans believe that there was election fraud. Most, but not all, Democrats disagree but shouldn’t they support the right to protest, offer solutions, or engage in good faith efforts reform the system? Shouldn’t Democrats compromise and work together with Republicans to deal with the issue?

Many demands are made of Republicans but Democrats are never expected to act the same way.
