  1. It tells you how long an Upper Paleolithic hunter-gatherer would live if nothing ever went wrong. Despite the “nasty, brutish, and short” fantasy, hunter-gatherers live better lives than most who came after. Best estimate is, hunter-gatherers had to “work” about ten hours a week. (Upper Paleolithic excludes all Archaic populations. European Neanderthals suffered from “football injuries.” That would be the broken collarbone you got engaging in hand to hoof combat with an aurochs.)
