Merry Christmas

…to all of my Christian readers, and anyone else who celebrates it. We went for a walk on the beach, and got rained on partway through, but we didn’t mind that much, because we so desperately need it.

I see that Webb is safely in space, a nice Christmas present to the astronomy community. Normally, most of the risk on a mission is retired after separation, but they’re just getting started.

And here is one of my favorite Christmas carols, by one of my favorite singers.

  1. Alison Kraus is one of my favorite singers. Her voice is so pure and clean that she could probably sing a duet with a chainsaw and make it sound good. Combine her with Yo Yo Ma and someone softly playing a bagpipe and you get perfection in a single take.

      1. The bagpipe in the linked video was played softly, not at the icepick being jammed into your ears level that’s usually the case.

  2. The new bar in Christmas music has to be this mash up of the Mandalorian theme and Carol of the Bells. I was floored.

It’s like it was created by the Force to balance out the incredible s*ck of “The Star Wars Christmas Special” of 1978.

  3. Celtic Woman put the bagpipe player on the third floor level about 50 feet from the singers. Their version of Amazing Grace brought ters to my eyes.
