  1. –MOSCOW, January 10. /TASS/. The launch of the Luna-25 probe and its planned landing on the Moon’s southern pole will be Russia’s key 2022 scientific event, President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Sergeyev told TASS on Monday.–

Are the Russians going to win again?

Maybe the stuck Russian convoy, is going to be similar to US leaving a bunch Military hardware in Afghanistan.
Hopeful Ukrainians take the gift, rather than just blowing it all up.

If I was Russian soldier stuck in the convoy, I probably would want immigrate to Ukraine.
Apparently they being offered prison time, why offer to do peace keeping in the two break way regions and then they get to be Ukrainian citizens once the peace is made.

  2. The Russian forces are using Baofeng (China) UV-5R dual-band 2m/70cm (440 Mhz) ham radios that sell on Amazon for $25 to $60. It’s a great radio for the money, and lots of hams I know have them, along with the separate clip-on mic/speaker so the radio can stay on the hip.

Except for jamming and lack of encryption, and the fact that amateur radio operators in all countries already frequent those bands, it’s an extremely good choice for an army under budget.

And of course these hand-helds also scan the bands, and this of course makes intercepting Russian radio communications a snap.
That is apparently providing a trove of information, and showing just how bad the state of the invasion force is. Screaming, crying, bitching, confusion, rebellion, shock at what the mission is, and anger at the abysmal supply and food situation.

Over a week in, with what purports to be a near-peer highly mechanized military, and they haven’t managed to take over two cities that are 15 miles from the Russian border, nor slightly more distant Kiev. It more resembles the Italian invasion of Greece than Operation Barbarossa, and Operation Barbarossa was mainly a horse-drawn wagon assault. Only the Russians could turn mechanized warfare into something that’s slower than Roman legions walking on foot.

      1. I’ve seen pictures of the captured radios.

A quick Google turned up a Twitter thread on them

Also among the captured documents are the Russian military shortwave frequencies.

12041 kHz day, 10057 kHz night
13619 kHz day, 12905 kHz night
7140 kHz day, 4750 kHz night
        44.225 Mhz
        39.425 Mhz
        31.375 Mhz

        1. Using – SINCGARS or HAVEQUICK radios for voice, tactical ‘field’ comms?

Or, are those teletype frqs, links, for encrypted “written” orders and logistics comms back to HQ?

        2. The Baofeng uses vhf/uhf for short distance communication. Non of those frequencies are VHF/UHF, all shortwave.

  3. If I was Russian soldier stuck in the convoy, I probably would want immigrate to Ukraine.

If I were a Russian soldier stuck in the convoy, and the EU offered me €1M to desert, I’d take it, move to Luxembourg, start a hedge fund, manipulate an EU country’s currency to make it €1B and then move to the USA and start funding lenient, progressive DAs.

That for suckers, If i were a Russian, I flee the country as soon as I had notice of conscription. Move to America, start a few brothels. Have a son who builds a real estate empire. Then a grand son who squanders the real estate empire for fame, then as a last ditch hail mary runs for “President for life”.

      1. “If i were a Russian, I flee the country as soon as ”

Of course you would, same if you were Ukrainian.

        1. “Of course you would, same if you were Ukrainian.”

Sorry I have directly related veterans in my family not a bunch of draft dodgers and deserting cowards for 3 generations.

Hey I hear in Russia they are blocking CNN , Twitter and Facebook sounds like it might be paradise for you . You should be able to get a large estate with your trust fund now a days there.

And you still get to watch Tucker.

          1. “I have directly related veterans in my family”? Why are you hiding behind your “family”, beta boy? What did you do in the military?

          2. Cause my contributions to digital communications and electronic warfare equipment to keep them safe, would be far more valuable than my service. As we can see with what the Ukrainians are doing to those Alphas in Russian military who seem to have neither.

  4. I’ve heard that Ukraine has been dealing with captured Russian soldiers in a unique way. They photograph them, ask for their mother’s contact information, then e-mail the picture to the mother with a note reading: “We are not Russians. If you’d like to have your son back, come and get him. We will arrange for him to meet you at the border.” Supposedly, they have gotten many responses.

Apocryphal? Probably, given the fact that the Russian Army would likely not look kindly on the practice. But it’s one of those things that, even if it isn’t true, it sure ought to be.

  5. They should get the POWs to Poland, then have them go home via a Baltic state, or just put them up in a hotel somewhere until Russia has a change in leadership, since the soldiers might face severe consequences upon return.

    1. The look of alarm on Kamala Harris’s face will live in hilarity.
What it looks like when your stream of consciousness is shallow and has to pass across a lot of rocks and minnows on its way downstream.

    2. Maybe it’s just me, but it also looked a bit like “at least I won’t have to put up with this forever”.

  6. Would love to know what was said when she and Pelosi huddled behind Biden during one of the applause checkpoints. My money is on Pelosi saying, “Next year it’ll be you giving this speech.”

    1. If Commie-la was smarter she would have replied: “Too bad you won’t be up here listening to it.”

    1. Eh, not seeing the problem myself. Not any different from when Putin publicly asked the Ukrainian military to betray President Zelenskyy. And much less criminal than the actual assassinations and attempted assassinations carried out by Russia.

Putin’s assassination would go a long way to resolving this war. And if that makes Putin more paranoid and irrational, that probably would be to our advantage.
