  1. What the article doesn’t mention is that Democrats believe there is a massive grey economy where people work, create, and sell goods and services without paying taxes on them. They think tax revenue is slipping through their fingers and that is something they can’t tolerate. The grey economy does exist but it isn’t as large as they think and these types of regulations aren’t likely to catch many people who participate in it.

This is also one of the main reasons they are pushing for a digital currency.

      1. That is also a reason and as people wo work as individuals, they don’t have a group to look out for their interests, so they are ripe for takeover by the DNC goons.

  2. Think an independent contractor union would be a game changer. Don’t care what you do but if your pay is reported on a 1099NEC you can be a member. Not a fan of unions, generally but if DC does this I could get behind a generic Indep Contractor union. I’m a W2 employee btw.

Having said that I do belong to NTEU nat’l treasury employees union and they have helped me out a time or two. I don’t like their politics, but there it is.

    1. Don’t turn people off by calling it a union. Just make a trade group, with dues, but no coercion. Most industries have one or more. Some just trade ideas, others indulge in lobbying and activism. Seems like there is a need here, such a group may already exist.

      1. The problem is the difference between a “local group” and being a small cog in a huge labor organization. The larger the organization the less that it really cares about its members and the more it focuses on the care and comfort of the nomeklatura that control it. ‘Why should a labor organizer personally care if you lose your mortgaged house if the strike gets them promoted?’

    2. Maybe competing groups to combat political capture by one party and force competition, even between like minded groups. Does the NRA feel the heat from all these other 2a rights groups?
