Back On The Road
Heading back to CA this afternoon, with hopes to get home tomorrow night. Probably stay somewhere in Utah tonight.
In Golden
We got in this afternoon. Stayed in Richfield, UT, which is a nice halfway point if one is taking the most direct route, up I-15 from SoCal, then I-70 to Denver.
Meanwhile, Galaxy Quest is the best Star Trek movie, bar none. We should watch it again over this holiday period.
On The Road Again
We’re driving to Colorado for Thanksgiving, so not much posting before Wednesday. Meanwhile, if you have a subscription, I’m quoted in the Sunday edition of the Times of London. The subject is the race between Jeff’s tortoise and Elon’s hare.

The Latest On The Trial
It was supposed to begin tomorrow. We just got word from His Honor that it is in continuance, due to the fact that he is sick…
My guess is that it won’t be rescheduled until next year.
When Will Starship Launch?
Speculation, over at Bob Zimmerman’s place. I make no predictions, but I obviously hope it’s sooner than later.
I’ve been at ASCEND in Vegas for the past three days, and tonight I have a red eye to DC to do final prep for the trial on Monday, so blogging will continue to be light.
Intermittent Posting
I just flew into DC for the pre-trial hearing, and most of the week will be spent in trial prep, so if you don’t hear from me, that’s why. I’ll be meeting with Mark Steyn in the morning before the hearing.
More Virtualbox Problems
So, I’m running Fedora with Gnome. When I fire up Windows 10 in Virtualbox, the VB menu tabs appear at the bottom of the virtual machine, covering up the tray. Of I attempt to minimize it, it leaves the Windows window. When I reclick on it, the tabs are still there. If I try to close it, it freezes the host. I can switch workspaces, and windows, but I can’t do anything within them; clicking on links, or new tabs within a browser instance, does nothing. The cursor remains an arrow regardless of its location. The only way to fix it (that I’ve found so far) is to reboot, which is a PETA, because a lot of stuff has to be autoloaded each time.
Any ideas for troubleshooting?
[Saturday-afternoon update]
OK, I have discovered that I can unfreeze the host without having to reboot, by killing the VM process. So that will help. But it’s still not switching properly between full-screen and scaled modes. And I still have to modprobe the driver every time I reboot, or the machine won’t start.
Light Posting
We’re driving up to Sequoia and Yosemite this afternoon for a few days. We’ll have the laptop, but probably not much time to post. We haven’t been there in years, and the waterfalls should be spectacular with all of the continuing snow melt from the very wet winter. Mammoth continued to have skiing into August (they just closed).
