  1. Well, that was a big waste of time for you and Mark and your lawyers. Hope it gets resolved soon in your favor!

  2. That sucks, although, the practice will be good for when you do go to trial. May they regret giving you more time to prepare.

  3. Maybe the judge is fighting off an infection from stepping on a pop top at a “Kill the Jews” rally?

    1. Like Kafka, you won’t know the outcome of your trial until a thief shows up at your house and shows you his court papers as he steals your car.

    2. My guess is that it won’t be rescheduled until next year.

Maybe February? Are we awaiting a finding from FWS too?

    1. And the goal shapes the tactic. I seem to recall 2012 pre-filing statements from Mann as wanting to bankrupt his opposition — specifically he wanted to cripple National Review. Presumably he intended the courts’ imposing and the failed defendants paying “damages”. But to bankrupt individuals, a plaintiff needs only an attrition strategy — a well funded attacker who keeps on keeping on while the defendant bleeds money month after month.

It’s like a four-flushing poker player with the casino backing his stake — getting to a show down means staying in the game and matching each round of raises even if it means all your chips, plus your watch, your ring, a mortgage on the family farm, indenture of your teenaged daughter…

Did Mann ever pony up “discovery” documents?

      1. Never mind the discovery documents, did he ever pay the judgment he lost in Canada a few years ago? Last I heard he was saying he wasn’t going to do so.

        1. …did he ever pay the judgment he lost in Canada a few years ago?

Not that I’ve heard of. The last information I had was Dr. Ball’s widow was pursuing the case.

Last I heard he was saying he wasn’t going to do so.

Well Mann may certainly have that opinion. The Canadian Courts say otherwise. He may want to avoid traveling to Canada. Doesn’t the US have an extradition treaty with Canada? Maybe that doesn’t apply in civil matters? Perhaps the Castro government doesn’t want to house him rent free? We’ll have to see, if there is a follow-on conservative government what they decide…

          1. OJ Simpson was found civilly liable for the death of Nicole Brown Simpson, and ordered to pay $33.5 million to the Brown family.

He still hasn’t paid a dime. and likely never will. No national borders are involved.

          2. Some simple infotoids (unverified factoids) pertaining to the OJS civil penalities:

According to this CNBC article from 2014, Kim Goldman claims to have collected less that 1% of an award that totaled nearly $40 million due to interest, as of 2014. That would be less than $400,000. The article does not provide any information about what the Brown family may or may not have received.

According to this Wapo article OJS’s Heisman Trophy was auctioned off for $255,500 to a fellow by the name of Tom Kreissman who claims to have it stored in a safe deposit box in a bank in Philly.
