That could be stiff competition, but I’m not going to argue with Newt about it. She’s certainly the dumbest one in my own memory.
But here’s my question: Why does a vice president have a national security advisor? In fact, why does she have a portfolio at all? There is nothing in the Constitution about this. Her only duties are to be president of the Senate, break ties with her vote, and to be available if the president leaves office. How did we get to the point at which the media are so ignorant of the Constitution?
An interesting history of an interesting people. There was a Basque restaurant on Redondo Pier that we never tried, but I think it fell victim to Covid; it wasn’t there the last time we went there a few weeks ago. Thirty years ago, on a road trip, Patricia and I ate at a Basque family-style place in Reno, and it was exactly as described.
Oh, and by the way, I don’t think this would be “World War III.”
What we now call WW I wasn't really a world war; it largely involved Europe, and didn't involve Asia at all. Similarly, if NATO goes to war with Russia, it will primarily be a European war, but unless China gets involved (unlikely) it won't be a world war.
The only way that this war will become a world war is if China decides to simultaneously (or not long afterward) take Taiwan, which would drag Asia (and maybe America) into the conflict.
