Four southern California counties are ignoring Sacramento, and starting to open up.
We drove up the coast from Newport Beach to Long Beach yesterday. In Huntington Beach, while there were signs saying no parking in the lots or along the Coast Highway, we saw people riding on the bike paths, and walking on the beach, many without masks, and seemingly unhindered.
Some things will recover quickly, but we won’t have a robust recovery until people have sufficient confidence that they can go back to sporting events or movie theaters or restaurants at normal capacity, which will probably require a vaccine (even if it’s a placebo). And now, despite all the money being pumped into the economy, the Fed has to worry seriously about deflation.
We’re driving down to Tustin today for a meeting, so I checked out Sigalert. The entire area is green, averaging 65 or 70. They don’t even bother to do traffic on the morning news.
We certainly aren’t well served by the current college-admissions process, but there is also too much pressure to get a subpar (at best) education for the actual purpose of getting a credential.
Well, this news about Hokkaido’s second wave isn’t great.

California’s “Reopening Task Force” is the usual leftist hacks, who don’t want a pandemic to go to waste. It would be a joke if not for how disastrous this will be.
