  1. If there is a war, I know which side will have the guns, and ability to use them.

If war comes, all sides will get guns and learn how to use them. Count on it. The left’s international allies will see to it. You sound like Charles Hamilton in Gone with the Wind declaring that one southerner is worth ten northerners. Or Hitler (sorry for the comparison) declaring that once he kicks in the front door (of the Soviet Union) the whole rotten structure will collapse.

Only a fool underestimates the opposition.

      1. Just don’t think they’ll fold up their tent and call it a day when you brandish your gun. Thinking they’re a bunch of pu$$ies would be a huge mistake.

          1. Yes, I know. You contented yourself with the implication.

But I might have misread you. You wrote “If there is a war, I know which side will have the guns, and ability to use them.”? To me it seemed as if you were implying that only one side in a war would have guns and the skill to use them and that circumstance would be permanent. If that wasn’t it what precisely were you trying to imply?

        1. Guns are largely irrelevant, except for cleaning up at the end of the war. If a war does happen, the right will simply blockade the cities and starve out the left.

Which I believe is pretty much the tactic Mao used, so it’s surprising that today’s Red Guards are so clueless and believe they can win a war by controlling cities rather than countryside.

    1. Getting guns is one thing. Knowing how to use them is another. Knowing how to fight against other armed people is still another thing. Which side do you think has more military veterans?

      1. Larry, these are all learnable skills. They will not lack for “advisors” to arm them and teach them. If you think you can shoot a few and the rest will fall into line you will be very surprised. Contempt for the other guy is not a recipe for success in war.

        1. The learning curve gets rather steep when live ammo is involved. Those who have spent their lives looking down on the military aren’t likely to be good students of those skills. I was a soldier, trained by soldiers. They’re punks.

          1. I’ve seen their hilarious “training” photos. The face some rather difficult problems. One, they don’t like authority, of any kind. As soon as the first Antifa type is promoted to sergeant, the rest tend to say “Screw this, man! We’re all equals!” Part of what makes them a completely dysfunctional subset of society serves to make them a completely dysfunctional subset of society. This also means there are a lot of basic organizational skills and group behaviors that are completely lacking.

Even assuming that they managed to achieve high-school levels of masculinity (which is highly problematic for them, as it implies that masculinity might be a positive trait), they’d come out pumped up on testosterone (again, problematic), beat their chests as a form of performance art, and then… Well, we eat male warrior cultures for lunch.

And finally, they’re all packed into cities. All we have to do is cut off the Internet and the war will be over in about three hours. If not, we cut off their electricity.

          2. Something to consider is that Progressive Marxism is a magnate for pyschopaths. They claim to not like authority but they are authoritarian and by nature, they have leaders.

In the chaos of war one of their physchos will rise to the top because they will seize power through schemeing and violence. Their leaders wont have any problem using their comrades as fodder and literally whip them into shape.

    2. If war comes, it will be horrible for everyone. It is true that the farmers tend to lean to the right and rural people tend to be more skilled at self sufficiency but the plague has shown us how vital supply lines are for all of us, not just city folk.

To game this one out, we need to know what both sides want. One side wants to destroy the country and the other to preserve it. Civil war will destroy the country by default. Even in losing, the Progressive Marxists will have won because their goal is destruction. So the only way for Americans to win is not to let war happen.

What happens if there is a war and America prevails against the Progressive Marxists? Then we rebuild and all of those people who were fighting need to become teachers, bankers, business owners, ECT. Why not skip the war and start the rebuilding right now by taking our institutions back?

The roadblock is that we are in a contest between those who just want to be left alone and those who want to control every aspect of people’s lives and that means one side is highly motivated to take control.

  2. If we’re going to look back to 1800 and 1860, it’s worth having a look at another long-ago election where one side would not concede, and attempted to overturn an election, including via an unconstitutional attempt to coerce electoral college electors. That long ago election was in 2016.

In that election, pressure, extortion and threats included, was applied against electors to coerce them to change their votes. Had the electoral college result been closer, it would have worked.

Now, they seek to impose the most fraud-prone and inaccurate means of voting upon the nation. This is not a coincidence. Neither is it a coincidence that “The Podesta Gambit” became public. This, like their refusal to denounce violence in our streets, shows very clearly that they are threatening to tear our nation apart if they do not get their way. This, like in 1860, cannot be allowed if we seek to survive.

I am all for preventing a civil war. I am not, however, in favor of merely delaying one.

The best deterrent against one, IMHO, would be to counter the Podesta gambit with the Lincoln gambit; make it very plain that peaceful succession will not be allowed.

If deterrence fails, this should be easier than the last time the Democrats played the succession card (1860); now, geography vastly favors one side. Look at any electoral map broken down by county or zip code; you see islands of blue in a sea of red. Those are the cities. Every single one is in the strategic situation of Vicksburg as Grant closed the noose on that city. It may well be time to educate the lefty bastions to the fact that food does not originate in supermarkets, water does not originate in their taps, nor does electricity originate in their electrical outlets. They threaten war. It would be well if they understood what that war would mean.

    1. If Trump really wanted to troll them, he’d mention that if he invokes the insurrection act regarding the rampant violence and rebellion in some of those blue cities, we don’t have to count their electoral votes, just like the 1864 election.

  3. Kurt Schlicter’s “People’s Republic” series is a timely read for this particular future.

  4. The speed with which people here have suggested guns as the solution – because they see their side as being better at using them – is disturbing, and then the next strategy “starve” them out.

Like all the naive kids in 1914 or 1917 going off to war, what an adventure!

    1. SJWs always project.

The right are the ones who don’t want a civil war, because we know what it would entail. It’s the left who think it will be a jolly jape that’ll be over by Christmas.

‘Yeah, let’s smash the fash while the police protect us from anyone who fights back!’

No sane person wants a civil war. But the left abandoned sanity long ago.

      1. But the left abandoned sanity long ago.
But what’s important is whether or not they’re good Americans.

          1. Well clearly they;re the bad guys and you’re the good guys, you have the moral high ground, God is on your side.

          2. You’re absolutely right, they’re insane and anti-American, as Gregg points out, they’re the ones preaching violence. They’re the ones that need to change or be made to change.

    2. Guess you didn’t see those Antifa terrorists using guns to turn people back from their roadblocks.

    3. You are, as usual, wrong.

We are reading things like this:

UC Berkeley ‘decolonization’ column argues in favor of ‘violent resistance’

“A student columnist for the Daily Cal, the student paper at UC Berkeley, recently argued that social justice movements are too focused on peace and “violent resistance” can be an effective tool for the “oppressed.”
      …….
“‘Radical love’ my ass. It disgusts me that the oppressors’ emotions and well-being (in all contexts, from institutions to individuals) are the first to be considered and accommodated whenever people question the validity of armed or violent resistance,” the student wrote.

The headline of his column is: “This war can’t be civil.””

Did you get that last line?

      “This war can’t be civil.”

So all we are saying is that while we would prefer you remain civil, if you choose not too – you will be very sorry”

    4. And of course you create strawmen which you then attempt to burn down.

      But your flicker isn’t flicking…..

      You blather:

“The speed with which people here have suggested guns as the solution…”

No one has suggested guns as a solution. Strawman.

So, then, here we are faced with headlines like this:

Yet ANOTHER riot is declared in Portland on 83rd night of trouble: 200-strong mob of protesters ‘rallying for BLM and the total abolition of prison system and police force’ torch city’s famous Multnomah Building

Looting, burning, and now increasing homicides in Chicago, Philadelphia, Austin, Minneapolis….

…with the violence now spreading to suburbs….

and what? You expect people to just accept it?

You think they won’t defend themselves?

You think the massive increase in gun sales is for nothing?

And of course, the TOPIC of this thread is Secession.

Do you honestly think secession would be merely accepted – unlike 1860?

Do you seriously think that actual secession would not result in widespread violence?

Go back to what you were smoking….

      1. “Do you honestly think secession would be merely accepted – unlike 1860?”

If it was the left seceding from the right, yes. The right would wave and smile and wish good luck as LA, SF and NYC seceded and the right could go back to living their lives their way.

If it was the right seceding from the left, the left would fight to the death to prevent it.

Because the right can survive without the left, but the left can’t survive without the right. The right would let LA, SF and NYC burn for a while after the food riots, then roll in, round up the few survivors and take over again because they don’t want the Chinese to capture the ports.

And that’s exactly why the left won’t secede, and why they won’t let the right secede.

Which is why war is far more likely.

The modern left are the kind of people who keep poking a bear for fun, and are then just shocked when the bear decides to eat them. In less civilized times, they’d all have been eaten by bears before they reached adulthood, but civilization keeps them alive to spread chaos in later life.

      2. They are showing up at people’s homes. Not just politicians but journalists and civilians. Lines are being crossed and if Democrats don’t kick the Progressive Marxists out of their party, it will continue getting worse.

This is true Even if Biden wins because then instead of Portland, Seattle, and Chicago governments helping their blackshirts, the full power of the federal government will be used to protect them and persecute dissidents.

    5. It is our friends to left who are acting out their Progressive Revolution in the streets and institutions. Listen to what they say and take them serious.

Something like 30 people have already been killed and billions upon billions in damage. In terms of GDP, how many New Zealands have been destroyed?

It is a very serious game Democrats are playing and no one is required to ignore their stated goals or the recent history of their animating ideology.

  5. There is the side with the guns, then there’s the side with the tanks and gunships. Don’t know which side they’ll take and you don’t either.

    1. Tanks and gunships don’t work for long when the oil refineries are on fire. The US military is reliant on supply lines thousands of miles long which would rapidly be disrupted by a war in the US.

And, if there is a war, the front-line troops will mostly side with the right; it’s the officers and support staff who are most likely to side with the left.

    2. Personally, I believe that most of the US Army and USMC would behave the same way that the Egyptian Army did during the revolt against the dictator, Hosni Mubarak during the 2011 Arab Spring. While tens of thousands of demonstrators filled Tahir Square in Cairo, the soldiers on the scene simply sat atop their tanks and grinned and waved at the protesters, while some of the protesters climbed up on top of the tanks and chatted with the troops. If any US commanders want to be more proactive, have people do the Tiananmen Tank Man dance at the entrances to various ground force bases.

  6. Make the guns tools of last resort. If you can cripple the ability of a Biden puppet regime to function you can deny them the ability to rule. Just ignore them or hack them. Right now I’m reading a history of Mao’s 1960s Cultural Revolution titled “The Cultural Revolution: a People’s History,” by Dr. Frank Dikotter from the U of Hong Kong. Before he goes into the CR itself, Dikotter discusses the Great Leap Forward, which starved 40-45 million people to death. In the GLF’s aftermath, the CCP became so discredited that it actually began to lose control of parts of China. Peasant farmers seized land from the state and grew whatever they wanted, while in the cities people started or restarted small businesses and even set up underground factories. At one point Mao thought the CCP was in danger of losing one-third of the country to capitalism, as he put it. Unfortunately for China and the world, Mao was able to reassert control for the following three reasons:

1: Mao was an absolutely ruthless totalitarian SOB.
2: He had a large, capable, and totally loyal army, the PLA, at his beck and call.
3: Mao also had the Ministry of State Security, the Chinese version of Stalin’s NKVD.

Does anybody think the American Left has any of those advantages?

    Then there’s this.

    And this.

    1. The left certainly seems to own FBI and CIA along with most state level “justice” bureaucracies.

      1. “The left certainly seems to own FBI and CIA along with most state level “justice” bureaucracies.”

Perhaps…at the upper levels maybe. But what about:

“He had a large, capable, and totally loyal army, the PLA, at his beck and call.”

Do the political left have the sympathies of our military? Either at the top level officer(s) or the lower level officers/enlisted rank-and-file? Or would they be more likely to side with Trump?

        1. What happens if after the election Trump does win and the “peaceful protestors” orchestrate large scale protests (riots) in many American cities in retaliation. I think they are already making thinly veiled threats of such already. What then happens when Trump invokes the Insurrection Act and calls out the National Guard/Army?

          1. Assuming Trump’s win in seen as legitimate, most people will support him. But before he could call out the army to stop such violence, he’d probably have to sack and replace at least half of the high-level officers. Otherwise they’d refuse to do so.

          2. Yes Edward, that would be a good move, make sure that you’ve got the people in charge in the army that you need to be there – but do it before hostilities start.

        2. This is true for now but the Democrats have been turning the miltary into an indoctrination center like colleges with a lot of gym class.

Incrementalism has allowed the Progressive Marxists to quietly take a lot of power but this has also made some of them overly bold and they want to seize all the power now rather than be patient.

It is all a matter of timing. Obama and his compatriots have made comments about how he came too soon.
